islam will protest the pope's comments . . . might be a great day to stay home . . .

I pray that God will protect His people from them. I pray that God will let them kill themselves this time instead of bystanders . . . and Christians . . . I pray that they will not be able to touch Christian churches.

But, if it is His will . . . may martyrdom of true believers bring Him glory by spreading the good news that Jesus Christ is alive and at His right hand.

MWL chief denounces Pope's remarks
Makkah – Shaaban 25, 1427/ September 18, 2006 – Dr. Abdullah Al Turki, secretary general of the Makkah-based Muslim World League (MWL), said the statement of the pope about Islam and the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) was unexpected for the Islamic nations and organizations which are looking for coexistence and cooperation with other nations and organizations. "About 1.5 billion Muslims do condemn and deplore any form of insult to the Prophet (peace be upon him," he said while noting that Islam has been treating non-Muslim in a merciful and lenient manner.

He urged the pope to read carefully the Islamic principles and the biography of Prophet Muhammad. "As the contemporary world cannot afford more crises and disputes, it is high time for the wise leaders of the political, religious and cultural institutions to exert more efforts for easing tensions in the world and to stop insulting Islam and its prophet," he said. The statement also called for working together to enhance the pillars of the global security and peace as well as to lift injustice and fight terrorism, violence and extremism.

Palestinian Muslims firebombed two churches and shot at five others in the West Bank and Gaza Strip Saturday to protest against the Pope's comments, sparking concerns of a rift between Palestinian Muslims and Christians.

In the town of Tulkarem, a church built 170 years ago was torched before dawn and its interior was destroyed, local Christian officials said.

In the village of Tubas, a small church was attacked with firebombs and partially burned, Christians said. Neither church is Catholic, the officials said.

The average Muslim doesn't know any more about Islam than the average Christian knows about Christianity - zip, nada. A Missionary friend in Africa says the typical local memorizes the Qran but doesn't read Arabic. It would be like me memorizig stuff in Chinese.

They have neither commentaries nor theologies.
