    Hi everyone,

Just wanted to know who in here leads worship at their church? I do at mine. Northside Baptist Church, in Huntsville, TX. We incorporate a blended style of worship: including hymns, contemporary praise and worship, and original songs.

What do you do? Do you use books or a screen? Do you have a band or pianist/organist or some derivitive thereof? Do you play any instruments as you lead in worship? Do you have your services split into contemporary/traditional? What are the pros and cons of both?

Just wanted to find out what some others in the ministry are doing. Waiting to hear what God's doing in your ministry!

    Dear Joshua,

I attend Bishop Cummins Memorial Church in Catonsville,MD.(just west of Baltimore)and while I'm not a worship leader,I play the conga drum in the contemporary music ministry.

We have two services on Sunday, the early service at 8:15am is traditional, using plainchant and service music, along with hymns, played on the organ.

The 11am service uses both hymns and contemporary music. We have organ, choir, and trumpet. The contemporary music group has piano, bass, guitar, drumset, and me on conga drum.

Also, there are 2 female vocalists,2 male vocalists (the guitarist and my music director) in the group. (The music director does double-duty,leading the choir and playing the organ, then playing the piano for the contemporary group).

    All of the music,(hymns,contemporary songs,
preludes, and postludes)are prayerfully selected to support the Scripture readings and the sermon topic and really flows together well.

I hopes that this is helpful!

    In Christ,

    Dale
