Worst Sin in Church

Honestly? Uninvolvement.

There is an epidemic in our churches, all churches. People are content to sit back and let the Lord "entertain" them. We worry about rampant immorality, and well we should, but one possible answer to that (along with poor attendance, inability to keep church members, loss of the newly-converted, etc.) is to get the laity's padded butts off their padded pews.

I know that this sounds like a general answer, and it is in a way. But if we can mobilize our people, most of what we see wrong in our churches will shrink or disappear. Now, as to how to do this...

I do not speak just from my own experience. Get a copy of High Expectations, by Thom S. Rainer. It is well worth the price! I've already devoured it once, and am about to go back through it with pen and paper for notes. Excellent!

That's too easy. The greatest sin in the church today is the sin of UNBELIEF.

 

I need to agree with Trotter. In a staff meeting about a year ago, we were lamenting the fact that we could not get people out visiting. We are all so busy, tired, sick etc. The general announcement was not working. so we decided to look at how It was done Biblically. Our conclusion was to pray and pray and then ask 1 person each ( there were 3 of us) to go on visitation with us. Now we have 6 teams of 2 going out regularly. We are ready to split a couple of those teams to make more progress. Just pick 1 person to "train" and then when they are ready split and each recruit another. now there are 4. and so on. the numbers will grow. We need to get people involved in active service as soon as possible. That is where we grow and become "mature" Christians.

Sin of unbelief.

 

A form of godliness but denying the power results in no worship. Dead religion that is produced from dead theology by preachers that are dry as cracker juice in lifeless churches.
