....your pastor started wearing ear rings?

    Why or why not?

Are they the big pirate loop ear rings or the diamonds like the sports stars wear???

Seriously, yes it would. Effeminite in my opinion and would just serve as a distraction.

My husband is not really an earring type and our senior pastor is VERY old school Moody/Bob Jones kind of guy so I'd not expect him to have one. But if any of them got one? I wouldn't care - unless it was hubby (totally out of character for him) or our senior pastor (WAY out of character for him)!

If he was wearing them on the lapel of his jacket, or maybe as tie tacks... no. LOL

But if in his ears, I would wonder who he had become a slave to since the last time we spoke. LOL

5 And if the servant shall plainly say, I love my master, my wife, and my children; I will not go out free:

6 Then his master shall bring him unto the judges; he shall also bring him to the door, or unto the door post; and his master shall bore his ear through with an aul; and he shall serve him for ever.

    Yuk.

I would call him down from the pulpit and demand that he take them off or resign.

Depends how old he is. If a 60 year old just showed up wearing it I would be alarmed.

If he shaved his head, put on a white t-shirt and started cleaning everything, i would wonder if he was changing careers. If he came in to work and out of the blue was sporting earrings, it wouldn't bother me, but I would be very inquisitive as to why.

Would not bother me in the least. Most women wear ear rings.

Sad, but in this day and age, and with this particular poster, this comment does not surprise me :tear::tear:

I would want to know what prompted the man to do such a thing, and I think it would be a distraction. Instead of listening to the sermon, I'd be looking at the earring wondering why on earth he was wearing it.

Now, if he was dressed as a pirate for VBS, that would be a whole different story.

Not much new about women being preachers ... they have been around for centuries. Never try to limit God!

Hahahahahahah. It depends on who the pastor is. But as a general rule, no.

We have some friends who went to the freewill baptist church up the street from us. The pastor there, male, was in make up, painted nails, in drag as they say. I don't know if 'he' had earrings in or not -- couldn't care less either.

Yes, it would bother me. Would it cause me to "rage-quit?"

It would also depend somewhat on the age of the man. We have one early 30s associate pastor with an ear ring. It fits his personality and appearance and that doesn't really bother me. I guess he is being relevant to his generation.

If our senior pastor showed up with an ear ring I would find it disconcerting.

Why should age have anything to do with it?

Perhaps it shouldn't have anything to do with it, but the truth is each generation defines their own sub-culture(s) expressed in music, clothing, entertainment, and to some extent food and language. The late 20s early 30's college and career minister doesn't look as out of place at Church in faded jeans, a graphic tee and sandles. The 60-something senior pastor would look out of place or even fake in the same clothing. The same goes for ear rings or tatoos on a 60-something man when they are not related to his Mom, the military, prison or an outlaw biker gang.

I don't wear an earring, and I probably never will. It has nothing to do with age (I'm still young), but I don't wear neckties either. Don't really see the difference in earrings and neckties... both are ornamental and serve no spiritual purpose. Pastors wear neckties to keep certain people happy and they don't wear earrings for the same reason.

As an adult male, I really don't see the appropriateness in allowing people to tell me how to dress, keep my hair, or what car I drive. Any individual who "called" me down from the pulpit (not that I use one... a music stand or stool work just fine) in a worship gathering would find themselves surrounded by ushers and escorted out by whatever means necessary.

This would probably be followed up with meetings and probably church discipline if the individual did not publicly apologize for their outburst.
