Eventually, I suspect by the 1880's reunion would have come with a less powerful central government than we know today.

 

If the South, after winning the war, had actually freed slaves and gave them citizenship I think that the northern states would have succeeded and joined the confederation of states. Well at least the states that had southern sympathies like Maryland. West Virginia would merge back into Virginia and California well what can I say, California has always been left. :laugh:

I say this because the border would not always be defined as the Mason Dixon Line.

 

If Lincoln had "believed in" the Declaration of Independence he would have let the CSA go. The border would probably have been extended west to the Mississippi. Another few years and the slavery question would have disappeared.

The lady on the other end of the line wanted to know what the "thunderin'" noise was

Andy responds------"They're doin' some dynamiitein' for the new road goin' through!!"-------------"Yes, M'am!!! Yes, M'am! Yes, M'am---we're still holdin' Richmond!!!!!"

I figure-----if we were to fight the "War of Northern Agression" over again-----I would want Andy as my General!!!:laugh: :wavey:

 

McKinlay Kantor wrote a very interesting boom entitled, What If the South Had Won the Civil War. At the end of the book the two nations are negotiating a re-union of the States. Jeb Stuart's great-grandson was the president of the Confederacy. I can not remember who was the president of the US.

Of course Jeb Stuart never had a great grandson as Jeb was killed at Yellow Tavern, VA late in the war.
