The only animals I bless are those on my plate.

The local Episcopal Church holds a ceremony like that here locally, but I have just never gone to the effort to take any of my dogs to it.

I definitely prefer ceremonies like these compared to the "ceremonies" that people like Michael Vick subject animals to.

Well, I wouldn't want that bunch of weirdos to bless my pets, especially that goddess of whatever.

But I do pray for my pets and privately ask God to keep them safe and healthy and give them long, happy lives. I believe they are a gift from God and I am very thankful to Him for giving them to me.

==I voted not sure. I can see praying for our pets (etc), but taking them to a bunch of priests to get a blessing seems a bit weird. I can pray for my dog, see pic in top corner, better than they can. After all, I do believe in the priesthood of all believers. :wavey:

Another human tradition I wouldn't participate in. But if my children were to ask me to pray for their pets, well, that is another story. :praying:

What a draw for the pet audience. We could have pet day. Animal Olympics. Pet and People Look alikes. All for the cause of Christ. You could preach about animal included texts, sing All Creatures Great and Small, include songs of the phrase Lion and the Lamb. What a take.

Just a few scriptures with the word "dogs" in them...

    Mat 7:6
    (6)
Give not that which is holy unto the dogs, neither cast ye your pearls before swine, lest they trample them under their feet, and turn again and rend you.

    Mat 15:26
    (26)
But he answered and said, It is not meet to take the children's bread, and to cast [it] to dogs.

    Php 3:2
    (2)
Beware of dogs, beware of evil workers, beware of the concision.

I knew it, I knew it...

The cat is an unbiblical animal...
No where is the word "cat" mentioned in the Bible... (KJV)

Not true. Ever hear of Daniel in the lion's den?

    Now that's a cat!

You noticed this was being done in the Granola State: obviously some the churches are also full of nuts, fruits and flakes too.

I did baptise our family cat, when I was about five or six. It wasn't easy, but I believe he is somewhere now thanking me for it!

    love,

Would you regard this kind of service as an indication of apostasy?
