New Poll Shows Lieberman Losing Ground

    HARTFORD, Conn.

Millionaire businessman Ned Lamont opened a double-digit lead over veteran Sen. Joe Lieberman less than a week before Connecticut's Democratic primary, according to a poll released Thursday. Lamont, a political novice, has support from 54 percent of likely Democratic voters in the Quinnipiac University poll, while Lieberman, now in his third term, has support from 41 percent of voters. The sampling error margin was plus or minus 3 percentage points.

If the Democrats turn their back on Lieberman, that will be clear evidence that there is no longer room for moderate liberals in the Democratic Party. The takeover of the party by the extreme left, led by groups such as moveon.org, will be complete.

I would hardly consider Ned a member of "the extreme left," but you can decide for yourself by reading his own website:

At this point, Leiberman has positioned himself well to the right of the American People on Iraq. And that seems to be the cause of his fall in the polls.

This one is a referendum on Iraq.

Conservatives will survive the coming election, if they have not tired themselves to Bush's neocon adventure.
