It's good to see you here again. That email seems heartfelt. Of course, I disagree with parts of it.

Did you notice how Bush II went on and on in response to each question from reporters? How he meandered so much in his answers that large portions of his answers were unresponsive to the questions? I think this was done to minimize the number of questions he had to answer. This man can't handle press conferences particularly well. He is no Ronald Reagan. That is probably why he holds so few press conferences.

Did you also notice how Bush II couldn't even name a single mistake he's made since September 11th? Not even in communication? And how Bush II said that EVEN KNOWING WHAT HE KNOWS NOW he would still have invaded Iraq. But that nevertheless he has always regarded invasion as the last thing to do only when all other options were exhausted?

I really wish he would hold more press conferences. His opponents would have a field day.

 

Good letter, I agree with you, Ken.

Please note, after listening to him tonight, I have changed my mind & have decided to vote for President Bush!

I think I'll write him, too.

Certaintly, every American should support the troops. It is not however unpatriotic to criticize the President's Iraq policy or the (Un) Patriot Act. Ultimately every American's allegiance is to the US Constitution not to the President. That is my understanding of real patriotism.

I agree that it is extremely un-patriotic to hope that our troops would lose. I heard someone the other week speak that way, and it angered me.

I'm glad that I haven't seen it here on the Baptist Bopard.

But did you notice that he said he was sure he had made some, but he was put on the spot and couldn't come up with one immediately.

I think a lot of his seeming meandering was due to his efforts to communicate the main points he wanted to communicate. I wish he would have been more direct. When the reporter asked him if he would do it again knowing he would lose the election, he should have looked her right in the eyes and said, "Absoutely, because it was the right thing to do" and then given her the rest of his answer. That would have been the typical Bush bravado.

Most of these press conferences are pretty light on substance. I thought the questions were rather inane and inocuous. But I would be curious to see how the number of prime time press conference stacks up against other presidents. Anyone know?

I can't see the poll results because I didn't vote in it. I'm not sure what "winning" in Iraq would look like, since the reason for invading has never been clear, and has shifted from time to time.

I certainly hope that we have military success in preserving the lives of our troops and knocking out those who would harm them. And get us out of there asap. THAT would be a winner in my book.

 

He was asked to name his worst mistake. Given that he's made quite a few, it's hard to narrow it down to one major mistake.

Bush is a pretty smooth talker when he wants to be. He was repeatedly asked why he insists on testifying with Cheney. He said because he wants to answer the questions of the commission. He wasn't dumb enough to say that he wants to make sure that they don't contradict each other. Very smart if you ask me.

All in all, I'd say it went pretty well. BTW, he needs a new barber. His hair lately has just looked dumpy.

On a side note, my candidate for Congress lost in the run-off yesterday. I'm sad. The guy who won is still a Republican, but I just don't trust him for some reason...maybe because he's a lawyer. Oh well.

Did you notice that Bush said he doesn't pay attention to polls? I think I can honestly say that he doesn't, otherwise he would realize that he needs to do something to get Americans behind him again.

 

Too bad about your congressional candidate.

The hot race in Pennsylvania is the effort to replace the radically pro-abortion Senator Specter with Pat Toomey, who has a fairly good pro-life record, and a relatively good conservative record overall.

It's an uphill battle, though, with President Bush appearing in Specter's advertisements with a solid endorsement.

Out of 22 Baptist Board members who have voted so far, 6 of them support the radical Muslims over the United States. I wonder which 6 they are. I can tell you that I voted for the United States.

My guess is that it was just folks who were having fun with a foolishly worded poll. I have not seen anyone here express such an opinion. I would condemn such an idea also.

 

I thought the poll was very direct and to the point. I saw nothing foolish about it. Perhaps you can explain your objections to a poll that asks people where their allegiances lie?
