Young women's dress

    I've noticed many high school and college age girls wearing rings on their toes and bracelets around their ankles(even Christian girls). Is this a popular fad?

    Is there something wrong with wearing jewelry? I noticed you're not talking about peircing, but just where a person wears their jewelry.

    I don't know...I've read scriptures against wearing gold rings in the ear, but yet having pierced ears seems to be common and not made too much of a big deal about.

    What exactly do you have against toe rings and anklets exactly?

    First of all, you're making an unfounded assumption. I never said I was against toe rings and anklets; I was only wondering why it is so popular? Is it because of a movie, or what? That is all I am asking.

    the way it reads it's like you're condemning toe rings and ankle bracelets... it's just a fad... Teen Magazine probably started it for all I know... my toes are too skinny

    Besides...I don't think it's a fad...since it's been in style for about 30 years...no, I'm not making this up... I wore a toe ring and ankle bracelet that long ago, and I have friends my age that still do. We "girly girls" are always looking for new places to wear jewelry. Ever see the movie "Gentlemen Prefer Blondes"? Marilyn Monroe was exstatic at discovering a new place to wear diamonds...the tiara. [​IMG]

    Yes, Jimmy, it is a fad and I don't know where it started. Ankle bracelets have been worn for many, many years. In my mother's youth (she is now 91), proper young women did not wear ankle bracelets, but by the time I was a teenager, it was ok to wear them.

    My grandmother had pierced ears, but my mother didn't. It was just my mother's choice.

    I can't see anything wrong with it. It is just popular now. It is the excessive piercing that I don't like and yes, I have pierced ears.

    Maybe someone does know why this fad started.

    I wear ankle bracelets on occasion because I find wrist bracelets highly annoying.

    Plus, wearing ankle bracelets is kind of sexy in non sexy way.

    I don't wear toe rings because that is annoying.

    my mom still wears toe rings and ankle braclets and she is 43. I think it's a lady thing. like someone else stated "Woman are always lookin for a new place to wear jewlery." They like lookin pretty so they wear all that stuff. Personally i think a lady with light jewlery and light make-up (using her natural beauty) is gorgeous. And i am 20 years old. (Lookin for Ms. Right by the way)

    I have been called all of the above because of my passion for jewelry, hair, makeup, and clothes. I realize that a lot of people think christian girls should look natural (I think people think that looks "pure") but I personally love being all done up all the time.............and as for toe rings........I just got a really cute one....I wear them all the time in the summer. they are really cute with clogs. ;)

    I don't think that no make up makes you look pure, the look of a little makeup and moderate jewlery and things of that sort are just my preferences in lookin for a girl.

    I wasn't making that comment directly to you....but I understand, I know a lot of men who prefer that. I personally find confidence the most attractive thing.........and it makes me more confident when I am all done up. Its just the type of gal I am!!!!Maybe I will change one day and be comfortable enough to go "natural" but I doubt it since I am 22. What ya think? lol

    At age 53, I still own some of both, but since I
    wear only pants, the anklet gets covered up. I
    still occasionally wear a toe ring with sandles or
    when barefooted.

    I wear a charm bracelet with little trinkets for grandbabies, my cat, etc. I read a few months ago that charm bracelets were first made to ward off evil spirits. I won't stop wearing my bracelet because of that 'history'.

    Some women over do the jewelry and look gaudy. My daughters mil wears EVERY piece of jewelry she owns every day. She sleeps in it too. Her arms have 12- 13 gold chains, her neck is layered.... with chains and charms. Every finger has one or more rings..... That looks tacky in my opinion.

    I wear pierced earrings because I thought the earrings worn by adults when I was a child were ugly. Remember in the 50's the big plastic earrings that hung from clip ons? I chose to have my ears pierced because I liked the little stud earrings my Grandmother Weldy wore.

    I wear a cross around my neck, my charm braclet, wedding rings and simple earrings. And bright clothes, makeup, color my hair.....

    I want to look nice for my husband, my children and myself. If my husband liked toe rings, I'd get one.

    Toe rings have become more popular in recent years, but both those and anklets have been around for a looong time.

    I don't like toe rings because I don't like having things between my toes (thong sandals? forget it!), but I have an anklet I wear when I'm not wearing stockings (it's mostly a summer adornment).

    A young girl, first and foremost needs to try and be a wittness for Christ. The Bible calls us to modesty, and that's something a whole lot of people have forgotton.
    I don't think there's anything wrong with jewlery...in moderation. I'm sorry, but five braceletts, a ring on each finger, two or three necklaces and holes all up the ear, is just too much. It draws attention, and that's not something we really need to do as young ladies. It's fine to look nice. I know people'd run from me screaming if I didn't wear a little makeup {I have some noticable scars on my face without it, that I'd rather not let the whole world see.} but I'm sure not going for the "Tammy Fay Baker Look!" In moderation, would be a little. I wear a pair of earings, one bracelett, sometimes my strand of pears or a locket,and my purity ring. Sometimes on my other hand I wear my highschool ring.
    I couldn't wear anything on my feet. that's just too uncomfortable.
    Modesty, and a quiet spirit. That's what I want most. {My Saviour knows I need to "study to be quiet" more often!} When I walk into a room, I don't want to be noticed by how my makeup is done, what jewlery I have on, or what dress I'm wearing. Yeah, I like to look nice, {that's awful hard for me!} but I think some people take jewlery and makeup to an extremity.
    In Ester, we know she used pefumes and such, and in provebs 31, the woman is said to wear "tapestries of purple" and Rebekka was given jewlery. but yet we also need to see the verses in first Timothy commanding laides to be modest, sober, and shame faced. I don't think that means ashamed exactly, because I don't need to be ashamed of my past, it's forgiven, and I sure ain't ashamed of my Saviour, but maybe that means to be humble like. I know we all could use some of that {and you dare say that you don't, cause if you think you're humble, most likely you ain't!}
    I'm so imperfect, it ain't even funny, but praise God, My Saviour looked upon me and said He loved me! He wanted me! I don't deserve Him and His love. Matter of fact, I don't guess I deserve anyone's love, but if people and my GOd can say they care, I don't guess anything matters. I know I need that verse in fist Timothy. I need to be reminded to humble myself, to be sober. You know I love to laugh, and smile, and that's wonderful, I think, but there is a time of seriousness. A time to be silent. I'm still trying to learn these things. I'm so glad my Lord has patience. I fall so short, but His love covers me, and sustains me. I know His grace can be made perfect in my human weakness. Halla-glory-alujah!!!
