    What are your absolute favorites?
It is way too hot for dinner, so we started discussing a big breakfast spread for tomorrow morning, when it will be nice and cool. All the talk and ideas for pancakes, eggs, fried apples and such led to a request for me to immediately go forth and fry up some turkey bacon IMMEDIATELY pretty please! I complied, and am rather surprised the plate it was seved on is still intact. Yikes!

I think turkey bacon might be a favorite around here.
I am personally partial to avocados, pomegranates and good chocolate. A great watermelon in summer is beautiful, but it must be a bit green. Fresh pears and peaches - heaven!

Mmm- it's tough to eat eggs and especially tomatoes from supermarkets after being spoiled by such off and on most of my life!
Chickens - one of the greatest creations. It always lifts my spirits to watch them. They make me laugh so much with their antics!

Hmm...chickens. In my building a certain chicken roosts on the steps of my apartment building. It makes an awful fuss when I climb the steps at night. And chicken poop everywhere! It just seeks a cooler spot. And the concrete steps are a bit cooler than elsewhere.

Sorry, off-topic. But I had to get it off my chest.

That's an interesting place for a chicken to hang out. A community bird. I like that!

I beg your pardon! Broccoli is my favorite vegetable. A day without broccoli is like a day without ... without ... I can't think of a catchy phrase. [Sunshine has been taken]

    Broccoli's great! Brussel sprouts? Yuck!!

And Salty, what they heck is wrong with grits? You northern boys don't know what's good! Didn't you ever spend any time on southern military bases? Grits, with apple butter and sugar, YUMM!! But keep the chicory. I need real coffee.

I discovered grits later in life. I was raised on fresh farm eggs, bacon from our own hogs, toast from fresh-baked bread -- my mom baked the best sourdough you've ever, EVER tasted! Cranberry juice and fresh milk tops off the breakfast, for sure!

OK. It's 7:15 -- now I've made myself hungry and gotta go make breakfast.

Baby broccoli is my favorite way to buy it - sometimes labeled as broccolini or Chinese broccoli. Sauté it with lots of garlic. Yum! I stir fry green beans like that too - so yummy! There are never left over green beans when I do that, no matter how much I start with. Makes me smile. And since I generally let everyone else eat first, I learned to eat a few while I'm cooking if I ever want any at all. LOL

Fresh mangos straight from the tree are always a good addition.

Buiscuts and gravy. Better than any desert. I don't eat it much any more but it is the best.

Mangoes are divine.....I miss them here in NZ, along with bananas, lychee, prawns etc. Very expensive here, it is ridiculous that Australia is just over yonder but it is CHEAPER to import from Peru for crying out loud and from the Philipines. NZ cheese is cheaper in Australia than in NZ??????

I was AMAZED to find tinned pumpkin filling in the supermarket.....a VERY American thing....I have never seen this product before.

Sadly, my favourite foods are extremely limited due to my problem of throwing up a lot. I like dairy for that reason.

Cooked up a lovely casserole for the blokes.....meaty with beer, veg slow cooked to melt in your mouth stage, accompanied by a mountain of mashed potato and kumara (sweet potato). There was my lemon meringue pie for desert.
