Here are my notes, from Sunday morning's message.....

GRAB YOUR BIBLES Ephesians 6:10-13

Today my message is going to be about....the Spiritual war that we are in:
And....our responsibility to get ready for it!

LETS READ THE TEXT Ephesians 6:10-13
=========================
=========================
V.10A “Finally, my brethren,”
-GOD’S MESSAGE.....TO EVERY CHRISTIAN-
(You have enlisted.....in my army
And you are fighting.....in a war:
--------------------------------------------------
Wether you like it or not!
=========================
V.10B “be strong in the Lord,”
-A CALL......FOR TOTAL COMMITMENT-
(The only area of our life....that really matters
Our relationship with the LORD:
--------------------------------------------------
-HOW THIS LIFE.......IS TRYING TO PULL US IN DIFFERENT DIRECTIONS-
And none of them.....are the right direction:
------------------------
SOME OF THE DISTRACTIONS SATAN USES....
(1)(Our job (2)(Our bank account
(3)(Our education (4)(Our retirement
(5)(Our friends & family (6(Our health!)
None of these.....should come between us and the Lord!

V.10C “and in the power of his might.”
-THE ONLY KIND OF POWER......THAT WILL HELP US “IN THIS FIGHT”-
(The power of “His might”
--------------------------------------------------
This battle.....is way over our head:
And we need Him.....with every step we take!
=========================
V.11A “Put on the whole armour of God,”
-THE ONLY WAY TO BE SPIRITUALLY READY......EVERY DAY-
(Putting on “God’s” Spiritual armor
----------------------
We should go to sleep every night....with it on:
Then make sure it’s in place...when we get up!
--------------------------------------------------
-THE ARMOR OF THE SPIRIT-
Six practices....that God will bless:
------------------------
(1) The belt of truth: (Being truthful with our self and others
(2) The breastplate of righteousness; (A breastplate that really protects us
(3) The shoes of the gospel; (A willingness to share the Gospel
(4) The shield of faith: (A faith...that we can hold in our hand
(5) The helmet of salvation: (Knowing for sure that you are saved
(6) The sword of the Spirit: (Knowing & obeying God’s Word!)

-OUR “NUMBER ONE GOAL”.....AS CHRISTIANS-
(Taking a stand....for the LORD
And being “His soldier”....every day!

V.11B “that ye may be able to stand”
-THE REASON.......SO MANY PROFESSING CHRISTIANS ARE FALLING-
(Because they don’t care about this armor
------------------------
And have they minds....someplace else!
--------------------------------------------------
None of us will be able to stand against this world:
Without God’s armor!
=========================
V.11C “against the wiles of the devil.”
-THE REAL ADVERSARY.......THAT WE ALL FACE-
(The devil.....with all of his cunning
--------------------------------------------------
Satan.....is not messing around:
He wants us dead:
------------------------
And he is going to try....to get us to “kill ourselves”!
=========================
V.12A “For we wrestle not against flesh and blood,”
-A FACT....THAT CAN SOMETIMES BE FORGOTTEN-
(Because this world.....hates us so much
--------------------------------------------------
The fact.....that we are in a “Spiritual” battle:
------------------------
So we need “spiritual” weapons!
=========================
V.12B “but against principalities,”
-RIGHTLY DIVIDING...OUR RESPONSIBILITIES IN THIS MATTER-
(Because some principalities are in the flesh
See Titus 3:1
--------------------------------------------------
Some preachers......preach against the president:
But he is just a “pawn”.....in this war!
------------------------
We.....have bigger fish to fry!

V.12C “against powers,”
-THE GREAT WISDOM THAT IS NEEDED....IN THIS BATTLE-
(Because we are to respect all legitimate authority
See Jude 1:9
--------------------------------------------------
All those in authority...have been put their by God:
------------------------
So we need to fight......against their plans:
Without actually fighting them!

V.12D “against the rulers of the darkness of this world,”
-THIS WORLD’S SPIRITUAL “DARKNESS”....HAS A SOURCE-
(Those who promote.......Spiritual darkness
------------------------
And this is more than just false prophets:
--------------------------------------------------
Everyone.....who rejects the light:
Is adding to the Spiritual darkness of this world!
=========================
V.12E “against spiritual wickedness in high [places].”
-THIS WORLD’S SPIRITUAL “WICKEDNESS”.....HAS A SOURCE-
(Those who promote wickedness
--------------------------------------------------
Every day...as we take a stand for the Lord:
We are chipping away.....at this wickedness!
------------------------
And Satan....doesn’t like it a bit:
And will be doing all he can to stop us!

V.13A “Wherefore”
-THIS IS NEWS....THAT SHOULD GET YOUR ATTENTION-
(Being informed...about the true nature of this world
--------------------------------------------------
What the Bible says...about this world’s condition:
Should effect the way....we look at this world:
------------------------
Seeing it for what it really is.....and shunning it:
Rather than desiring to join up with it!
=========================
V.13B “take unto you the whole armour of God,”
-THE HUMBLING EFFECT....THIS NEWS HAS ON US-
(The fact that we live in a dark...Christ rejecting world
Should remind us of our need....for God’s protection:
--------------------------------------------------
Seeing our need....for “the whole armor of God”!
=========================
V.13C “that ye may be able”
-WHY SOME CHRISTIANS......SEEM UNABLE TO RESIST SIN-
(Because they “are”...unable to resist sin
But it’s not God’s fault:
--------------------------------------------------
Every Christian who.....underestimates this danger:
And fails to put on....all of God’s armor:
------------------------
Will not be able to withstand: Satan’s attacks!
=========================
V.13D “to withstand”
-THE PRO-ACTIVE SIDE.....OF THIS WORLD’S TEMPTATIONS-
(We are to be “actively resisting” Satan
And not simply avoiding trouble:
--------------------------------------------------
Actively......taking a stand....against Spiritual darkness!
=========================
V.13E “in the evil day,”
-THE “EVIL DAYS”.........THAT WE ALL FACE IN LIFE-
(As we follow...the Lord’s instructions
--------------------------------------------------
Therefore.....we have nothing to worry about:
Because the LORD is with us!
=========================
V.13F “and having done all, to stand.”
-THE LORD.....WILL NOT LET “LAZINESS”....”SLIDE”-
(In those who refuse to take a stand
--------------------------------------------------
The world might let you slide by.....in your sin:
But the LORD won’t:
------------------------
We serve a jealous God.....who takes sin seriously!
