Are you a cat lover, hater or somewhere in between?

I am an animal lover, so I generally have a good attitude toward cats. However, there are quite a few cats that go out of their way to be aggressive toward people who are not their owners.

I have some friends who have a cat that likes to bite people who are visiting the house. You don't even have to be anywhere near the cat or bothering it. It simply sneaks up on you and latches on. On more than one occasion, I've nearly punted that cat across the house.

Most cats tend to be decent though. You don't pester them and they won't bother you unless they want attention. And even then, they aren't jerks about it.

Funny you should mention this. I lost my barn cat "Lucky" a while ago and he was all black with green eyes. This morning when I was putting out ole Beau my blind bulldog a black cat with green eyes was sleeping on my porch. Hmmm!

I really like the fierce independence cats demand.

They are the Americans of the animal world.

My cat is fiercely independant, until he's hungry.

Yeah, that is the only time they love you .... and I think that is a pretend to get what they want.

Never had cats until we got one 14 years ago. Named him "Sipowicz" after the cop on NYPD Blue. Discovered i love having a cat. He loves me when it's cold down here and then he cuddles with my wife or I.

Well, what I want to know is who are the two people who admitted that they hated cats in the poll!

    :BangHead:

'Cause I'm telling you - I'll fight both of ya......at the same time! LOL!! :flower:

I LOVE their fierce independence and their secret DEpendence on you. I love that they will unabashedly stare you down. I love their little tufty ears and their little whiskers and their little furry selves. I love how their little eyes open wide and dilate until their irises disappear right before they pounce on you. What's not to love?

I quit hating anything. Hating is hard work and I am lazy.

Cats are smarter than some people I know, lol.

I have found that if you treat a cat like one of your family, they lose some of their "independence" and follow you around like a puppy. Also, our calico cat is constantly wanting attention, to be petted, cuddled, sung to, etc., and even comes to tell me when she has used the litter box so I can straight away scoop!! Our Siamese cat (died from cancer) used to sit by his litter box and wail until it was scooped!! Siamese cats are fiercely protective of their family members (I have heard they originally were bred to guard royalty) - no need for a watch dog.

    Cats are the best!

Madam is ecstatic that the day is sunny and warm.....she has dashed into the house from terrifying the unripe fruit on one of fruit trees, and has wriggled off her cushion and would like now to gnaw my hand. I have deflected this and she is breaking up some cardboard.

I must love cats......she has given me another magnificent whisker for my collection!!!

That about sums up my opinion of the value of cats too:

    1) Unfortunately, I don't live on a farm; thus, no barn!

    2) The HOA fees would increase were I to own a cat!

    3) The "Neighborhood Watch" Committee [consisting of 4 neighboring high-strung canines] ALREADY HAS ENOUGH to bark about without adding a furry feline into the mix. (OTOH, maybe it'd save me $$$ in the long view---no need to have to pay for WWE "SmackDown" any more [right there, Scarlett??!!?  :tongue3:])
