You're sick. You need prayer. What would you do . . .

    . . . if there was no one around in whose prayers you had confidence?

    Fortunately, this is no longer a problem for me, but for too many years, I was in a church setting in which I had ZERO confidence in the ministry, thus no confidence in their prayers.

    In such a circumstance, and considering the Scripture which says to call upon the elders of the congregation to pray for the sick:

    * How much does confidence in their prayers have to do with the prayers and with the sought healing?

    * If the leaders are truly not trust worthy, whose prayers are the "effectual, fervent prayers," or does the lack of faith in the elders render useless the prayers of all those praying? What if their praying stifles the faith of the one who is sick?

    * If one does not have faith in one person's prayers but has faith in another person who is present, is it acceptable to reject one who is called over to pray for them and/or to request someone else?

    That is a very good set of questions, and I notice that no one has given an answer yet.

    The bible does say to lay hands suddenly on no man, and I have refused prayer a couple of times when I didn't feel comfortable with the person that was coming at me.

    And the scripture you quoted does say the "fervent rightous" prayer availeth much.

    What to do? Whatever your gut tells you I think.

    I'd rather put confidence in God and what the Word of God says about healing and apply the scripture to the prayers.
    Isaiah 53:5 ;with His stripes we are healed.

    Is it confidence in prayer or is it the faith in the Name that heals?
    The words that Peter spoke to the lame man at the gate of the temple Beautiful was simple.
    Acts 3:6 Then Peter said, Silver and gold have I none; but such as I have give I thee: In the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth rise up and walk.

    I've studied alot about prayer and theres so much to learn. (ie) Like finding others that will agree with you, binding and loosing, bringing into rememberance the scriptures about the promises about healing, having faith and beliveing. When I search the scriptures one thing amazes me however. Some places people where healed with only a few words others were told to do certian things. (ie)John 4:46 Christ heals the noblemans son (Beliving), John 5:1-9 the inpotent man John 9:1-7 Christ heals the blind man.

    But with what all I have read I belive God is faithfull and knows our needs and what is best for us.
    Paul had prayed to have the the thorn in his side removed, but God told Paul His grace was sufficent. 2Cor.7-10

    But most impotantly if you are going to have others pray for you be sure thier hearts are in it and find someone who will agree with you in prayer. I have asked people to pray for me before and I had felt they half listened to me when I told them about my need.
