LIBERTY, Mo. — A youth minister was charged with assault for allegedly knocking a 16-year-old boy down and kicking him in the groin after taking a head shot from the teen in a dodgeball game.

David M. Boudreaux, 27, was charged Wednesday with one count of third-degree assault. According to court documents, the incident happened in February at Crescent Lake Christian Academy.

Authorities said the teen missed Boudreaux with one throw but then knocked the youth minister's glasses off with the next.

The boy apologized, authorities said, but Boudreaux pushed him backward, and when the teen got up again, Boudreaux kicked him in the groin and left.

The teen suffered whiplash and post-concussion syndrome and had blood in his urine after being kicked, according to court records.

    Boudreaux later apologized, prosecutors said.

Jeanne D. Hewitt, administrator of Crescent Lake Christian Academy, said Boudreaux had been placed on administrative leave.

He must have pushed and kicked him pretty hard to do that much damage. If the kid did it with malicious intent then maybe he should be punished, but the youth minister should not take matters into his own hands. But come on, it's dogeball.

We'll be praying for the kid. Liberty's not too far from here.

Let's not forget the 5 D's of Dodgeball, Mr. Boudreaux:

Dodge. Duck. Dip. Dive. Dodge. ;)

Yeah, it's dodgeball, alright. That's the problem.

Dodgeball ain't the same game we played when we were on our elementary playgrounds. The goal today is to intentionally hurt and embarrass your opponents and you are dealing with children and young people and young adults who are raised in a climate of "rage".

No longer do children and young people get hit with the ball and say, "well, I'm out". They get hit with the ball and turn violent with anger.

I won't let my students play dodgeball, period. Not at my public school and not at my current Christian school. Period.

I agree that he should definitely be placed on administrative leave until someone can pinpoint the source of his "anger" problem.

Also, I have no evidence, but I suspect based on working with young people for many years that the young man who "missed once and then took the youth minister's glasses off" was trying to do so.

But even if he was purposely trying to knock off the youth minister's glasses, he did not deserved that kind of physical relatiation.

Sounds like a bit of an Anger Management problem and a poor testimony...

Whatever happened to "Be angry and sin not?"

Do you have any basis for this claim?

When I was in 7th grade, we played Bombardment, which was much more violent, intense, and extreme fun. This was over 2 decades ago.

Watch what you read from the MO papers and state/county officals. When they took my son and accused me of damaging his kidneys they used the same ploy of blood in the urine, even in court. When the facts came out that it was both hereditary and he had a history as well as the fact that he had suffered from scarlet fever as a toddler, they had to do major crawfishing in front of the judge. However they left the statements out and loose and we repeatedly had to defend the stupidity repeatedly in our ordeal. Don't believe every thing that you hear from any paper or gov. official in MO.

I feel for you. There was a teen boy in our town, and at my best friends church a few yrs ago who killed a girl while driving. I kne him and his family since he was a toddler. It is a known fact by all that if he drinks alcohol, even a small amount, he might die. He has to check labels etc....It's like when some kids eat peanuts I guess, he's highly allergic. He has grown up knowing this and couldn't even swallow cough syrup. He is a good, christian kid. with a wonderful family.
Well the Cops said he was DUI. He was arrested and convicted His doctor said that he couldn't be DUI, that he would be DEAD if he drank even one alcoholic drink. He sent a letter to the paper. The kid doesn't want to die, and his friends at church said he has never drank alcohol. He was at church an hour before he was driving with his girlfriend.
HIs doctor was VERY Vocal about his innocence, and he was convicted. It was put in the paper that he was arrested for DUI (at a very high reading so it appeared he was REALLY drunk) which would have ruined his life anyways even if he was found innocent of the DUI.
Very sad but I believe the Doctor's testimony because he and his wife are our best friends. It's freaky to know that they can change these official tests anytime they want to.

Do you have any basis for this claim? </font>
Well, 23 years of working with children whom I love very much in both the public school and christian school.

Have you not seen the violent environment that our children are raised in? The movies, the videos, the "toys", WWF, the video games?

And they all are exposed to it. Boys and girls alike. Public school kids and private school kids alike.

I have heard more profane language at my christian school than my public school. One boy, last week when I called him to my podium to show him a test grade, said "sh#@" under his breath. To my face.

I caught two "christian" boys in the hall one day and they were just about to fight. I got there just in time to prevent the fight and just in time to hear one of them call the other one a "p#@&y".

I love the children that I teach. And yet, my love for them doesn't negate the fact that our children are angry.

They just get so cotton-pickin' mad at each other.

"Shutup!" and "She's got my freakin' pencil!" and "You make me sick!" and "Oh, crap, not you!" and "You're a liar!" are some examples of the only way they seem to know how to speak to each other when they get angry.

And they get angry over the most mundane little things.

They have been taught by the most potent teacher, the media, that rage is cool and violence/verbal abuse is the hallmark of a leader.

The anger is not just limited to our kids. Sometimes we adults have the same issues and yet we handle things in a manner that says that it is ok to act this way. I personally struggle with this very much in the raising of my own children. I want them to handle their anger and still not commit a sin. But they learn by watching me and I know that I am not a great example.

This youth pastor is obviously struggling in this same area and will get to answer for his actions. I do not envy his situation, been there and done that and got the record to prove it. He will be in my prayers.

Do you have any basis for this claim? </font>
Apparently there is a very silly movie out there called Dodgeball that poses the behavior described. Ive seen the anger in children at the parks in our neighborhoods and the schoolyards where I volunteer.

Where I see it taught quite eloquently, more than any other lesson? Stand on the sidelines of a youth soccer game once in awhile and watch the parents. I never seen it beat in all my life. They scream obscenities at their own flesh and blood...over a soccer game.

Quite a grand claim to base on your anecdotal evidence. Violent crimes have declined since 23 years ago, as have the number of juveniles involved in violent crimes.
