Good Morning Everyone!

Happy Birthday Gayla! Not fair you have to have a treatment on your birthday. :(

Sue, you are in my prayers.

Lawnmowing and weedeating are on the list for today, along with a trip to the mall so Jenna can spend her allowance on a new Webkinz (her 5th I think). Then church tonight, so my day will be full!

Happy Birthday Gayla!

Hey Cindi...no pre-church trip to church???? I'm offended <pout>

I will be back at the church trying to get some things done. I didn't get anything done yesterday at all:tonofbricks: unless you count the laundry I did.

Sue, I woke up thinking about you -- which meant you and Brent and his sisters were my first prayers today . . .

Thanks, Bitsy, and all others who are praying. Your prayers mean a great deal to me.

Thank you, my dear friends.

The funeral has been pushed back a day.

They had visitation this afternoon and were supposed to have the funeral this evening, but there are family members that cannot make it to Wisconsin by then, so they are having an extra visitation tomorrow morning, followed by the funeral.

I feel discussion about the girls will take place after the funeral if it hasn't already. I haven't heard from Shawna, so I'm not sure what the situation is right now.

Hey Gayla, we have smocking at the church even!

We pleat our bishops on a regular basis. =)

Most of the time no one gets hurt...can't say that about yesterday's bishop as it had a needle broken on it. LOL...really two needles if you count the one that was broken on the sleeve. but, the one broken on the neck was the biggest pain.

Cindi, don't ask what I am doing up at 5am....I have been up for an hour or more...ugh...if this is prep for things yet to come....I think I have changed my mind on this baby thing ;o)

Sue, I am so sorry for the loss your family is dealing with. All of you are in our prayers.

Latter today, when the sun comes up and the kids get their school work done, we will be back at the church for more smocking and sewing. So far, Monday was the only day that I wasn't at the church for smocking/sewing. Yep, making up for lost time.

My goodness TLB, aren't you folks just a little cruel to your Bishop? You should be kind, tender hearted, loving, and above all give him double honors. After all, the Bishops and the Elders are the overseers of your souls.

Good Morning Everybody,

It is 65 here, headed for a high in the high 90s.

Happy belated birthday Gayla.

I brought in Double Cranberry Muffins, Raspberry-Stuffed French Toast with Custard Sauce, and Home Fries. Enjoy.

Not much going on here today. With temps in the high 90's we won'tbe moving much either [outside that is.]

Good Morning Everyone!

I'm up! NOt cause I wanted to, but T said if we wanted a paycheck he had to go work. Go figure.

I'm supposed to be outside spraying Round-up on all the morning glories that are trying to take over the swimming pool so I can figure out if we have a leak. Haven't made it that far. Might not make it out there at all today. Yesterday's mowing and weedeating about wore me out. Not to mention holding that poor bishop while we pleated her!

I've got to straighten up through this house and go buy junkfood. Cassie is havng some friends tomorrow to go see Harry Potter and then spend the night. 4, 15 year old girls. Am I a glutton for punishment or what? <sigh> Cassie guilted me into it because her birthday was last week, like doing all the driver's permit stuff wasn't enough!

I need to go to karate this morning. Don't know if I'll make that or not either. My muscles are really complaining this morning.

I think the easiest thing to do would be to spend the day smocking at church. But isn't that too much like fun to be constructive?

Good morning all,

It is going to be another hot day here (in the high 90's) and will stay that way for the next week. Oh well, that's a good excuse not to take Brent to the county fair and waste money that I don't have in the first place. I can't breathe outside in this heat and humidity, so I am staying inside with the A/C on.

I would like to get started painting the rooms on the inside of the house, but I sure hate to do it with the house all shut up. I know paint doesn't smell as bad as it used to, but I still don't think it would be good with my lung problems. I guess I'll have to wait until fall, and hope it stays nice enough to keep the windows open until I'm finished.

Thanks for breakfast, Rob.

Cindi: Watch out you don't get one of those stubborn deacons that fight back. He might not like being smocked...

Have a pleasant day all.

Watch your mouth lady! smocking at the church can never be too much fun to be constructive. If so, I am in a lot of trouble!! Ms. Judy will be there with Macon(7) and Erin(16). Poor Macon, he was so sad that Seth (8) wasn't with me yesterday.

Cindi, I already have junk food for church and your hair dryer:thumbs:

Ok, I have had enough. Wot is smocking at church and why at the church. Wot is a bishop? Do you make wine at the church?

Cheers,

Jim`

Wine at church! Jim! Bite your tongue!

I think I could explain the smocking, but I haven't actually done it, so I'll leave it to the experts. ;)

The smocking and pleating are sewing techniques. I think the bishop is part of the dress or shirt.
They do it at church because Cindi is a professional seamstress and started teaching some other ladies to sew. The church is a convenient place for them all to meet.

And I don't remember anything about wine being mentioned.

It'smocking when we sit downstairs and copy the preacher! :D

All right, all right, don't want to get into too much trouble. Smocking is a type of embroidery that is done across fabric that has been pleated with tiny pleats. Your mother probably did something of the sort for your sisters when they were very little(do you have sisters?). It is a very old technique that has come back into popularity here in the south. Used to be the pleats had to made by hand, but nowdays we have a contraption that does it for us. A bishop is a type of dress that has been smocked all around the neckline.

If I can figure out my photobucket account info, I'll post a pic of one I finished just a few weeks ago.

I never made it to the church today. Either I had too much heat yesterday or I've picked up a bug so I've spent most of the day in the bed. I tried to eat and I'm thinking it wasn't a good idea so if the pic doesn't get posted today, I'll do it tomorrow.

Wine? Hmmm, we tried that once but they told us we'd have to meet at the country club if'n we wanted to keep it up!
