Now finally someone transliterated the code words for bishop and it is a piece of clothing??? Ayweh! And all this time I thought you ladies were pinning needles to your Bishop!

Now I see what you are on about. A fancy dress for a young 'un.

Needling a bishop (pastor) in any church could be inviting for pulpit revenge.

Bishop's is a form of wine in England, just as Black's is a form of beer. I couldn't figure out making wine in church.

Now the story. When my granddaughter was young and visiting with us in Canada from the USA where she lived, she came to the Anglican Church where I was preaching. I wore a gown at the church.

When she got back to Wisconsin, she told her neighbours that her grandfather wore dresses. She didn't elaborate, and they didn't ask any more questions.

I found out about it when we visited in Wisconsin, and the neighbours were giving me weird looks. It was then the truth came out.

Cheers,

Jim

Hi Jim and everyone

Just looking in to say "hello" from Wales.

Our friends don't have a computer so the nearest library is some 8 miles in one direction and 16 miles in t'other.

We have had some really good weather but now we have a little rain but nothing too much at all.

We spend a lot of time with our friends. Rob is making himself useful working in the barn and doing odd jobs around the smallholding and I have been doing a lot of knitting. I am knitting a baby blanket and it is coming on a treat. I just hope it is finished before the baby arrives...

We had hoped to be able to go out blackberrying but the blackberries here are quite a way behind compared to the ones at home.

I hear that things are gradually recovering from the floods back home. It is going to take a while to get back to normal. When we go back we will still have to be using bottled water.

Blessings to you all

Good Morning Everyone!

Great to hear from you Followinghim! I'm glad you are enjoying yourself. Mmmm, did I miss who is having a baby?

Today is going to be extreme! Cassie's party is here, boys want to go to the skatepark, Jenna is off to a party elsewhere (but not before we had to have a grand 'discussion' over her attitude toward her clothes). I still have to go to Walmart, make the present for Jenna's friend, actually go to the skatepark, gas up the car and I'm not even dressed yet. Girls arrive at noon!

Three hours. Think I can do it? :D

Hi Sheila, Glad you are having a good stay with Eileen and Albert. I knew you would find a place with a computer...lol.

Not to trouble about getting blanket done. It has been over 37c here this week and Christine is due Aug 8th. She has dropped considerably though, so could be anytime now. He will come home in Eileen's lovely shawl and bonnet, and that will be nice,,a touch of Wales and England in his early life.

Older daughter decided late in life to have an offspring, her first. I get to babysit once again!

Cheers,

Jim

Good Morning Everybody,

It is 87 and sunny here, headed for a high of mid-90s. Oh well, this is the weather we wish for in January.

Good to hear from you FollowingHim.

Jim: Congratulations!! Do you have the gift of grandparenting down to a science yet?

Cuz & Tanya: Thank you for explaining about what smocking and a bishop are. Let's see if I have this right...a Bishop is hard-pressed and on top of everything. Sounds like some I know.

Cuz: You go Girl! I mean that literally...You go, Girl!

I brought in chilled fruit salad, grilled hamburgers, potato salad, macaroni salad, and Lemonade Stand Pie. Enjoy.

I've already been to the grocery, and run some errands. Now the hard part of putting everything away.

I think I just saw a Bishop! Sorry, my mistake. It was just a Cardinal.

I have gone, Cuz!

I have: been to the skate park, Walmart (where I ran into Tanya), made a tablecloth, made a pair of capris, cleaned all T's jun---stuff of the dining room table, put new tablecloth on the table, discovered it was too long, fixed it, put it back on the table, threw the capris into a gift bag with the shirt I bought to match, packed Jenna up as her party is a spend the nighter, found 3 extra girls in my house, lived through the excitement and now I'm eating lunch and catching my breath so I'll be ready to go again in just a few minutes. :D

Not too bad for a mornings work!

We're headed off now to B'ham. See ya later!

Finished VBS tonight (we have a fair on Friday night).

We had 421 children registered - 62% of whom do not come to our church (some attend other churches but the majority of these are not churched kids).

We collected 4,153 juice boxes for Sunshine Acres - a Christian camp in upstate NY.

We collected $7800.00 to supply one meal a month for the 350 children who live in the Managua city dump in Nicaragua - for 15 months! Our goal was to supply it for 12 months (this is in addition to the meals they already get - they don't get them every day but about 3 days a week). Our high number for the VBS offering before this was $4,300 (last year's offering).

I know in one department, 19 children gave their lives to Christ (don't know the numbers from all the departments)

Praise the Lord! He is so good!! It was an amazing thing to watch happen - and be a part of.

Now to sleep for a day .

Oh - if you guys could think to pray for my daughter Nicole. She's away at camp and I just got a call that she fell off a horse this afternoon and hurt her hip. They think she'll just be mighty sore and bruised. Pray that she heals quickly and can enjoy the rest of camp. Thanks all!

Morning everyone. Please tell me the coffee is ready, did anyone make it today?

I am so tired from the last couple of day.

Oh well it's Sunday so I get to go to Church tht always perks me up. But before Church I promised the kids we would go by the hospital so they could visit Jeanne. That means I got to get moving. See everyone later.

Good Morning Everybody,

No Church for us this morning. Our "new" alternator that has only been on the car for less than 30 days decided to fail. It's under warranty so we just have to take it off and have it exchanged then re-installed. I firmly believe that auto parts and appliances have a mind of their own.

It's been raining for most of the night, and is forecast for the next several days, so maybe our drought is ended.

Good to see you Bill. Don't worry Sue keeps the coffee on all the time, and being virtual coffee it never gets bitter either.

Oh well. times 'a wastin gotta get the alternator off and returned.

Good Morning Everyone!

Cuz, we didn't make it to church this morning either. My internal clock is off and I woke up, late, to an absolutely silent house. We still could have made it to preaching(barely), so climbed up and made coffee only to discover that Jenna has the stomach virus that I had a few days ago and seems to be going through the house. Chris is the only one who hasn't had it, but he is fighting a migraine this morning. Cassie got stung by a wasp yesterday, right over her eye, so her face is all swollen. So here we are! I couldn't seem to fight all that.

Hi,
We didn't get to Church this morning either. Because I am having a very hard time 'recuperating' from this week's poison treatment.

Good morning all! We had a wonderful day of fellowship at church yesterday.

Sorry Gayla that you couldn't make it due to your recovery from the "poison" treatment. Pray that you get your strength back! :)

Ann, that was good news about VBS! Praying for Nicole that she'll be OK.

Lady Sue, your email of yesterday, the "groaner" got me going for a minute or so. Where'd you get these gems?

Have a great day all! :type:

I save them for you, Barnabas, for I know you have a great sense of humor!

Good morning all,

I have been very busy and probably will be for the next few months!!!

I am painting the bathroom and had to strip off a wallpaper border first. I still have to clean the tile that is on the bottom half of the wall, install an exhaust fan, lay carpet, and sew new curtains.

After that is done, I will only have 6 rooms left to go............

Brent is doing a great job on the siding. He is almost finished with the last side, then he will have to tackle the high gable in the front. He has been doing it all by himself!

Coffee is on and tea is steeping. I hope Rob brings breakfast in, for I've only had a glass of water so far.

Have a good day!

Good Morning Everybody,

It's been an interenting weekend. We've been watching a newborn while her mother is having some tests done. Her name is Paris Marie and she's cute as a button. It's been awhile since we've watched a baby that young, but like riding a bicycle, some things you don't forget.

I get the hint Sue. Let's see it's closer to lunch than breakfast so how about...Smoothies, Chicken BLT Salad, and Triple-Layer Mud Pie. Enjoy.

Luckily not much on the schedule for today[for a change.]

We got the alternator replaced and installed and I have to go grocery shopping this afternoon. I'm running out of "raw material" for dinner.

GRRRRRRRRRRRRR! I got up early so I could be at the hospital when the Dr. came in to see Jeanne this morning. Jeanne said the Dr. had been comming by between 8:30 and 9:30. I got there at 8:20 and had only been there for 5 min when they came in to take Jeanne for her stress test. She was going to be gone for 3 hours. That means I will most likely miss the Dr. because by the time she is back in her room, I'll have to take the kids to their Grandpa's house and head to work.

Good evening all,
I have been really blessed lately but we are in the middle of some trying times. Oldest nephew was baptized-he was saved a couple of years ago, they hadn't had him baptized since they couldn't find a church they liked. His sis just younger than him was baptized at the same time! I got to lead her toa saving knowledge of Christ. It was so AWESOME!!!!!!! The other nephew is being baptized on Sunday. Also, one of the youth that I took to camp who was saved was baptized. Her whole family was there. She is the only Christian! Man what a witness already. My new job is going good, I am still tired when I come home and I have gotten my resistance built up yet so I am trying to fight off a cold. Mom has been sick for about a month-she is going to the doctor on Friday-I know that her blood pressure is messed up as she has been worrying about my sis. I had better go, I need to get off of here and get some work done around the house.
Y'all have a blessed day tommorrow.
