Greetings, brothers and sisters! Christ is risen! Just joined for some fruitful dialogue.

I was raised Baptist, and am planning on making the switch to the Holy Orthodox Church soon. Hopefully, we can have respectful dialogue and interaction concerning Christ our God and his teachings! Glory to the ALL-ADORRED TRINITY NOW, AND UNTO THE AGES OF AGES, AMEN!

Hello,
I hear about a lot of people like you. What makes you decide to go to Catholicism? We have people who were raised Catholic and became Baptist. I can understand them doing that. I believe the same things (mostly) that they do.
What Baptist church or kind of Baptist church if you would rather, did you grow up in? there are at least as many different kinds of Baptists as there are Baptist churches.
Welcome!

Welcome. We have a large section where non-Baptists can post. You can READ in any section and I'd encourage you to do so.

Converting to Orthodox (I grew up with many Russian Orthodox friends and have been in their service in Moscow years ago) is topic of great interest. Feel free to start a thread on WHY you are making such a radical change. Thanks.

Thank you guys for greeting me! As far as the kind of Baptist church I grew up in, it was just a typical Southern Baptist church, kind of evangelical, kind of fundamental. But overall, great and kind people down there. Then I moved up north when I was a little older, and it was the same kind of Baptist church, great people, love the bible, love Jesus. I'm very thankful for my Baptist upbringing, actually. It taught me to love Jesus and his word.

As far as why I decided on the orthodox church, some reasons were forensic justification by faith alone, sola Scriptura, the sacraments, the priesthood, etc. I'm working on a post formulating a friendly critique of sola fide right now, actually, will post that on the "other denomination forum" if anyone is interested. Maybe in the future I'll do a post about why I ultimately chose orthodoxy.
thanks
