So what's the difference between Beth Moore and Joyce Meyer?

Other than the fact that Beth Moore is "sanctioned" by Lifeway and her conferences have the blessing of the SBC ??

Both are "prosperity doctrine" teachers focused towards women. Aren't they?

I wasn't aware Beth taught the prosperity doctrine. I do know she teaches and endorses the heretical contemplative prayer founded in eastern mysticism and filtered by the catholic church.

Beth Moore absolutely does NOT teach prosperity doctrine, and in fact, she often speaks out against it. I have done several of her studies, and she is always very clear that she is against the whole prosperity thing that so many people are preaching these days. She believes in getting into the Word and letting God bless you how He chooses to bless you, and serving Him regardless of whether or not He chooses to bless you. I don't know how anyone can get the idea that she teaches that nonsense. As for Joyce Meyer, I've always enjoyed listening to her speak, but I have noticed in recent years that she seems to speak a lot about what you can get out of God monetarily speaking. That's probably why I don't make a special effort to watch her program, but I jump at the opportunity to spend anywhere from six to twelve weeks doing a Beth Moore study...which for those who haven't done one means a minimum of an hour long video, once a week, every week of the study, plus homework lessons five days out of the week. :thumbs:

I do not think it is always a focus. But it does come through in most cases in small ways. Since it is the larger part of her "philosophy" for lack of a better word.

Please explain. Are you talking about a particular prayer or a style of praying?

I know Beth, and I know that she is as Baptist as fried chicken and cornbread. Beth's teaching is expository, and of the studies I've read and been through, she's bulls-eye every time. There's quite a bit of difference between Beth and Joyce, and although Joyce does teach the word of faith stuff, I don't believe she teaches it near as much as Hinn, Copeland or Osteen.

What I said in the other thread I stand by: Don't take what a teacher says at face value... be a Berean. Go home, search the Scriptures and pray the Lord would show you if they were correct. Some bad teachers trust that because their delivery is slick and they use the right lingo terminology, no one will check on them. It's sad.

The best possible advice. Always search the scripture, no matter who the teacher was.

Why does everyone have to down either of these women? I have most of Joyce Meyer's books and scripture backs up what she says I am reading "The Confident Woman" and there is so much scripture to back up what she is saying that I sit there and read a few sentences and support that with the bible in my lap and then read a little more and then go back to the word. By the time I get to the end of the chapter I have a full understanding of what she was getting at and what the Lord wanted me to get out of that chapter. Its not about prosperity although I dont understand why people are so against the Lord blessing them. Its all about having a relationship with the Lord and growing in Him and whichever way the Lord leads you to that then so be it. If I had just my bible and no one like Joyce or Beth to help me along in my walk I would not have grown like I have grown using their materials/studies as a guide. The more I get into the word the more I see the Lord doesnt want us to struggle and scrimp and save to make ends meet He wants us to have abundant life, life to the full till it overflows and not just about money its about love, family, relationships and above all a relationship with Him I dont know how else better I can put my statement. Seek Him First and the Kingdom of God and His righteousness and all these "things" shall be added unto you. .... I am also currently listening to a Beth moore CD Series on the book of Job and getting alot out of it---Job wasnt happy with everything going on in fact I bet the more I study about it he downright hated it, but He kept on keeping on and Praising God in the midst of the storm and in the end the Lord blessed Him double.

Also Joyce is not all about money. the other day she did an awesome series on why things happen that really put alot of things into perspective for me. I have also attended like 4 of her conferences and each message is so uplifting that you leave out of there feeling like a new person. I will never understand why people down Joyce and Beth and Joel when there are others like RW Shambach, Jimmy Swaggart, Oral Roberts that need to be downed as well. JMHO

I agree....to an extent. I think sometimes people (not saying you are here) tend to emphasize the end of life too much, and don't focus on how the fullest life is experienced with living out the gospel. Of course living out the gospel does not necessarily mean monetary wealth, nor is it suppose to. That is where gals like Joyce Meyer, and others, go wrong. They teach as if you should be living wealthy, or WILL BE, living wealthy. This leads many to think that if they are not, there is something wrong spiritually.
