My list could be even longer because so many posts don't even capitalize the first letter of the initial word of their heading. But I'll let that pass -- magnanimous gent that I am.

in Defense of myself, at times when I post, I am in a rush and do not take the time to properly edit as I should. Also, this board only lets you edit for a short period of time. After that, no-go.

One reason for rushing (no not Limbaugh  ) is that I try to get my thoughts down before I forget them (I have old-timers  ) and then I am on to my next project.

    Am I excused teacher?

    Haste makes waste.

You may go -- but don't always rush off.

English is the toughest language to learn properly, but the easiest language to express what one wants to say. Then we have typing errors. A lot of people type with two fingers and only watch the keyboard. Sometimes they strike the wrong key and get all mixed up on how to speel dat word. Corrections even make it worse by times and the typist leaves it be.

Best just to get on wth it and enjoy the forums. Even the English don't always use proper English. It's a lovely day, innit. Common English but it ain't right. It is right for most Englishmen.

    Cheers,

    Jim

That sentence hurt my grammatical eyeball, but not the open minded, liberal one.

For those who are bothered, I understand how such mistakes can be annoying, but have you thought about what may be behind them?

I have dyslexia. I work with students who have it to varying degrees, and other types of disabilities. There is one student in particular who makes me very proud when she can write one sentence that doesn't contain a spelling error.

My eyes have been opened to how many people fight through their learning disabilities and succeed. I previously believed it to be an minute number. It's not. Also, not everyone has the advantage of a formal education, so not everyone is going to be posting with the knowledge that they're taking us on a journey down their personal vast and winding halls of grammatical hell. Some of us spend all day teaching it and just don't care by the time we get on here.

Have patience! If anyone wants to be a drama queen over such issues, they can always just consider it their cross to bear and then bear that cross quietly. We don't all need to see your struggle. It pains us and makes our own crosses heavier. :p
