I believe it encompasses both heaven and the resurrected life as well as the our lives here and now still being lived out in the flesh.

So yes, I do agree. However not to the extent that it only refers to heaven and the resurrected life.

I think with the many Scriptures describing Heaven, which would seem to contradict this passage, I believe this to be hyperbole for the wonders that await us that can't be described in human terms.

I take it literally whether referring to the deceased Saints in Heaven or the resurrected or transformed Saints in the new Heavens and new earth.

I believe in the context its talking about the things freely given to us. It say the natural man cannot understand the DEEP THINGS of God. He is quoting Isaiah 64:4 That says "For from days of old they have not heard or perceived by ear, Nor has the eye seen a God besides You, Who acts in behalf of the one who WAITS for Him." Notice WAITS for him...Psalm 37 also shows this principal too.I don't believe Heaven was on Pauls mind when the wrote this...in fact Romans 8:28 has has a parallel to this ...also 8:33 He that spared not his own Son, but delivered him up for us all, how shall he not with him also freely give us all things?
