Christ's deity attacked in the American Standard Version (John 9:38)

Yeah that's right. The battle for centuries (even up to today) with heretics who insisted that Christ is merely a creature while Christianity always asserted He was God (the Creator) is not theological in nature????

An attack on the Deity of Christ would be done in a textual alteration that "demoted" Him , not a footnote about the use of a certain Greek word.

pros-koo-neh'-o
From G4314 and probably a derivative of G2965 (meaning to kiss, like a dog licking his master’s hand); to fawn or crouch to, that is, (literally or figuratively) prostrate oneself in homage (do reverence to, adore): - worship.
So Dr. Strong is comparing Christ to a dog.
