What do I say? I say I have faith in God's Word. Either you do or you don't. God required us to have faith, unfortunately some people don't have enough faith to believe God's Word.

Can't you have faith and come to a different conclusion than what some other person thinks? I believe the bible says exactly what it means. How you interprete that and how I interpret that may differ.

You are quite correct. The problem is not with the Bible but with people's interpretation of the Bible and being unwilling to allow God to teach them new things, in other words, to grow in widsom and knowledge and understanding.

I found the article fascinating. Did you notice the high glaze on the pottery in the photograph. That really amazed me. I have seen ancient pottery, but not with such glazing.

Is the shiny part of the pot shown ancient glaze or, since they say "fragments", are the smaller pieces that are below the shiny glaze really the part that they found - and the white part modern?

I am not sure.

There is no question the Chinese were advanced in many ways long before the Western world. The first written records are from the Shang dynasty and that began somewhere about 1750 B.C. I am not sure if these written records were on some type of silk or on bone. I do know there are very ancient writings on bones and/or shells in China. The oldest record I have found it what experts believe in writing on tortoise shells that are determined to be 8600 years old.

To fire such a high glaze would be very difficult without quite advanced techniques ... or so it seems to me.

I looked at the photograph carefully and you are right. The pieces are the original pottery. The white is modern, like a frame, to hold the pieces. Good call on your part.

I think what you meant to say was "I believe the bible says exactly what I think it means." I, on the other hand, believe the Bible says exactly what it says. So, no if you don't believe the Bible says what it says then you don't have faith. If you take what the Bible says and apply your "interpretation" to it so that you come to a conclusion that the earth is millions of years old, or even hundreds of thousands of years old, then you don't have the necessary faith to believe what the Bible says.

The exact same sentiment applies to you as well. What about scripture that talks about the universe being geocentric. Certainly you don't believe that do you? No you have to apply your reason to it. give it a shot.

I still believe what the Bible says, young earth. I always crack up when I hear these highly "educated" scientists talk about millions and millions of years old. God can do anything, including making layers of rocks to look old when He created the world. The accuracy of carbon dating is flawed.

That being said, I love it when old artifacts are found. When I was a kid, I wanted to grow up to be an archeologist.

And the four corners of the earth. The earth was believed to be flat in OT times.

Good point! Funny how people say they take the bible literally but in reality don't. Then Claim those who have a differing opinion don't believe the word. I have a name for it Hypocracy.

Here is one for crabtownboy

Job 37:3 Under the whole heaven he lets it go, and his lightning to the corners of the earth.

Isaiah 11:12
He will raise an ensign for the nations, and will assemble the outcasts of Israel, and gather the dispersed of Judah from the four corners of the earth.

Isaiah 41:9 you whom I took from the ends of the earth, and called from its farthest corners, saying to you, "You are my servant, I have chosen you and not cast you off";
Ezekiel 7:2 And you, O son of man, thus says the Lord God to the land of Israel: An end! The end has come upon the four corners of the land.
Revelation 7:1
After this I saw four angels standing at the four corners of the earth holding back the four winds of the earth, that no wind might blow on the earth or sea or against any tree.
Revelation 20:8 and will come out to deceive the nations which are at the four corners of the earth, that is, Gog and Magog, to gather them for battle; their number is like the sand of the sea.

4 corners of the earth does not mean that the earth was flat. We still use the term today. The four corners are North, South, East and West. There would have been much better words in Hebrew to have described a true corner but that was not used in this case.

You might want to go after the newsman who was on the news last night. Apparently he also is geocentric since he told us when sunrise and sunset would be. ;)

But see this is my point exactly. You don't take the entire bible literally. Using the same logic one can approach the genesis story from a different persepective. Which I have done in the past. I could use all the same arguments thrown at me and say "well you either believe the earth has four corners or not! I choose to believe Gods word! The world has four corners and winds are let out of gates" "You either believe that or you don't trust the word of God!" That is what I find Hypocritical. If I take the media of the day and the understanding of the people of the day and apply it to what the bible says I might get a different understanding of it. The weather man aptly proves my point. He's using geocentric terms because of observation and already developed language to say something but he doesn't really believe the earth is stationary and the sun revolves around the earth. My point with Genesis and the creation account. To say I don't trust Gods word is a nonsequitur in this circumstance. It would be like me using your rational to explain the four corners of the earth and say you don't trust the word of God. Get my point?
