Exactly why would a company sign a union contract if they knew the wages and benefits would cause the company to go broke?

MBAs and lawyers are dime a dozen. They have flooded the market. Remember supply and demand? The demand these days is for skilled machinists and mechanics. Around here there is, at least was, a shortage of people who could work high voltage power lines. With overtime, a high voltage electrician with Seattle City Light or Snohomish County PUD should make $100K.

College is the latest scam. Half the people with a new 4 year degree (which took him 6 years) will NEVER break even.

I'll take Jesus' teachings.

Hermeneutics 101: you don't throw out one teaching (Paul) because you personally prefer another (Jesus).

It is quite possible to minister to "the least of these" and also honor the importance of a man providing for his own household.

Of course, if you want to throw out one set of Scriptures because you like another, that's your choice.

Personally, I like to hold all of God's Word in esteem...

How dare you say that any person who claims to have experienced God's saving grace do not like Jesus. You have gone too far in your rant. The comments by myself, RBELL and the Rev had a light hearted note with no claim that "libbies" do not do not "like" Jesus. You have accused me and others of hypocrisy of the worst sort. If you are going to make such claims, bring proof, otherwise keep your mouth shut. You have no idea how I treat others or what I believe or don't believe.

Actually What we reject is the twisting of the words of Christ to fit a New World Order through ungodly organizations like the UN who want total power and control of individual lives which will be achieved through liberal programs like taxation, population control ie abortion and assisted suicide, mythical claims of climate disaster, and all done in the name of humanitarian needs. Those who twist the words of our beloved Christ to further this agenda are acting in an evil manner. While libbies work to avoid the words of Paul conservatives do not fear away from the words of Christ. We do not take one section of scripture and place a higher importance on it than another. And we do not see the living word of God a just a book of words. It is the word of God.Period.

You can put lipstick and a dress on a skunk but it will never be more than a skunk.

Remember it was that "liberal" Bill Clinton who imposed a work requirement on welfare.
Was it just Bill Clinton that imposed this, or was it also the Republican Congress that wrote the law that Clinton signed (which he later said he regretted)?

Partisan hack.

I don't agree with much of what you say, but I do agree with this. The College system is increasingly becoming a no-win situation for many people.

I just recently retired from AF after 22 years and I have a high disability rating so I guess I will stick with Tricare and then the VA when needed even though I am not too impressed with them yet.

I will rely on Medicare with a supplement provided by my company. Without Medicare I am is dire straits.

You are in dire straights under Obamacare.

His plan cuts the benefits of Medicare recipients and will do away with your "supplement".

Better wake up!

"Health insurance" IS NOT INSURANCE. It doesn't meet any insurance principles. It is pre-paid medical service.

"Health insurance" started out as a way to get around a wage and price freeze. Company group policies were written as "major medical policies." Only thing covered was accidental injuries, hospital admissions, and the "seven dread diseases." People were expected to pay for their own routine stuff.

The companies offered the new benefits to attract new workers at a time when labor was scarce (world war 2). Policies were written on the assumption that a large work force would be statistically healthier than the general public. Pre-existing medical conditions were excluded. Group Policies were written so they either included pre-existing pregnancies or the current pregnancies to term for existing employees who quit but not both.

What is insurance then? How about homeowner's insurance? Is that prepaid repair for your home? What about car insurance? Is that prepaid car repair? I don't see any difference between the three of these. They are all insurance.

No, she didn't. Any man who believes it is okay (and votes that way) to leave live born babies to die on piles of dirty laundry has no qualms about euthanasia for the elderly.

Here's what he said:

http://blogs.abcnews.com/politicalp...tly-if-we-start-making-changes-right-now.html

Do you think I believe him? Not for a minute! He is a liar and deceiver and has no credibility. He even lied to those who voted for him by saying they wouldn't be taxed. Already, he is taxing their cigarettes. (the poor suckers who bought into his hyperbole). He is a liar. And a murderer. Proven by his own track record.

The moderaters are so unbiased on this board. That's nice.

What fine? You're making this up unless you can support it.

You keep asking everyone to prove there statements but then you never acknowledge the proof - just as you wanted to know where the bill exempts Congress from the health plan that they are writing.

I gave you the proof and bumped it for you three times with no acknowledgement from you.

If you ask for proof you should at a minimum acknowledge it when you get it.

Otherwise who cares what you are asking for?

I had you on ignore for a long time because all you seemed to want to do was insult me.

AF, I retired in 1993 after 26 years in the Navy. Tricare has been very good to us thru the years. My wife has had a bad back/neck and had to have surgery to put pins in her neck. Is under pain management including steroid shots in the back. I have had major cancer problems since 2005. Been in radiation twice and chemo for most of the years. Spent most of Dec 08 in the hospital cause the cancer caused problems in my upper veins back into the heart. Had stents put in.

My cost thru all this has been the quartly payment, $12.00 an office visit, and the $3/$6/ or $9.00 for a prescription. My wife has been on disability for a couple of years and on tricare for life. Other than the withholding from her SS Disability there is no more bill. I started SS Disability in May and I think in 18 months from that date will be on tricare for life myself.

Of course this is not the free healthcare for life we were promised for staying to retirement, but it ain't bad. My concern is how new healthcare changes will effect us.......
