Liberal attack on Fundamentals

Hi All,

For those of you who don't run into the liberal (or now called progressive) view of Christianity, I have a audio clip for you. It is from a guy named Doug Pagitt who is one of the liberal Christians today that has been at the forefront of the Emerging Church movement. He interviewed Bishop Song and he gives us a clear example of how we fundamentals are viewed from the left. I'll warn you it isn't easy listening and if you are weak in your faith I suggest you don't listen.

I'll wait to comment further if this post raises any attention. God Bless.

Hey SolaSaint,

Do you know if this is available anyplace as a text file? I am HOH so I have a hard time hearing audio clips.

Thanks for any help you can give.

Let's see... we evolved like everything else... the virgin birth is a myth... heaven is not a literal place. And that's just three highlights from the first half of the interview.

I think we need to call in the butterfly nets...

Thanks for the synopsis, Trotter! I guess I'm not going to miss much.

Mex,

Just do a google search for John Shelby Spong, and you will find much. Not sure if the exact text will be available, but I know for sure there is the same liberal rants from him in text form. He's been around for a log time. He was of the Jesus Seminar bunch and has been seen on televised programs about Christianity many times on the History Channel and such. He truly has a hatred for us conservative folks within the church. He really believes we are the ones who are misguided and calls for a reformation against traditional Christianity. This kind of stuff is being spread all throughout our colleges and universities and is a big reason we see such a decline in church attendance.

I don't buy what he has to sell.

So often the weapon one uses on those they disagree with is ridicule. One who has some intelligence could not believe that. It is as if he is talking down to folks who disagree with him, because everyone agrees with them to some point, is what he is saying.

What hurts is we do the same to folks who we disagree with their theology ( cal and noncal)so often, we use to get along well for the most part.

Just from that I can tell there's no reason for me to watch it.

Bob, you are so right on. I heard someone else say this today. We must be careful when approaching others who differ in our theology. We don't need to come at them as arrogant or superior, but in love as we see in 1 Cor 13:1-3. But Spong really does come across as very harsh and condescending.

I can't speak for others but that chapter I need to keep coming back to.

Yes he was very condescending.

I recall Dr. Henry Morris when he was at VPI saying if you believed in creation how many would try and say you just were not as smart as them.
I've heard Dr. John Whitcomb saying that if you believed the Bible to be true, God's Word, many would say you just were not smart enough to understand. Ridicule is a favor weapon, I just don't want to use it, we can disagree in Christian love.
