Thank you for responding. I have looked on their site. Was wondering if anyone had any personal info on them. I know that they are very Pauline, but that is about it.

The Berean Bible Society, sometimes called the Grace Movement, is a hyper-dispensational FALSE/CULTIC BELIEF system that was started by Pastor Ohair in Chicago and Pastor Baker as author.

Not believing in "minor" doctrines (like hell, baptism, etc) this group simply states that all of the Bible other than a few books of Paul (prison epistles, pastoral epistles) is NOT for us today. It redefines the Bible, the Gospel, Baptism, Kingdom etc)

Do NOT confuse this cult with the Berean Fellowship denomination that is mostly "baptistic" and I know many of the pastors personally. Their doctrinal statement would be identical to many Baptist churches.

[The use of "heresy" or "cult" is very limited on the BB so we don't call each other names like other boards! But like the Adventist, Mormons, Millennial Exclusions, etc, we do list cultic beliefs and label them as 100% in error.]

Dr. Bob, This is off the BBS website on hell...

While Hell was created for Satan and the other fallen angels, the unsaved of humanity from all ages will be with them in this place of torment where "there will be wailing and gnashing of teeth" (Mat. 13:42). This is the "everlasting reward" of all that die in their sins.

Sounds to me like they believe in hell.

Yesterday, our Baptist pastor said from the pulpit that if you are a believer and don't join the church or are not baptized you are living in sin. We are fundamental Baptist, not Hyles type though. Whay are your thoughts? I thought my husband was going to have a coronary right there in the pew.

Great variety in the group. Some are hyper to only include Paul's writings and some Gospels! Some just Paul's writing and nothing more. The majority only hold to a few of Paul's books - and in those books there is no mention of hell, baptism, etc. These are the "grace" people I know and have tried to convert to the Gospel.

I would have gotten up with your husband and headed to the exit. That sort of "preeeching" is not what "church" is supposed to be about. It tells me that the pastor is poorly trained and I would not sit under such a man. (Again from the limited info you share).

If I were a believer moving to Casper I would be very careful to visit and examine closely each of the potential churches (22 Baptist) It would take quite a while. I would alse be very careful and detailed in following the Lord in baptism. In our church, no matter the "profession", we do not baptize little children.

Dr. Bob, I have been on the Berean Bible society site and I'm not seeing what you are saying that they believe. Most of it is in direct opposition as to your statement as to what they believe. Are we talking about the same group?

It is the same group. They MAY have changed their stripes over the years but in the 70's they were truly Hyper-dispensational. They had a book about the heresy at Wheaton back then.

The first church I looked up under Berean Fellowhip had founding pastors as husband and wife. Doesn't sound Baptistic to me.

They may have meant that in the sense that the Pastor's wife is trained in and has a ministry to other women and children.

However it probably would have been better to have stated it differently than "founding pastors".
