As a doctor Maurice Rawlings became a Christian by seeing what happened to people after a near death experience. He interviewed those people and found that a number of them had what he called a hell experience rather than a heaven experience. Rawlings wrote the bookTo Hell and Back: Life After Death Startling New Evidence. It is an excellent book.
If that is true then the flames of hell are figurative and not an actual fiery (burning) hell.Bill was saved at 16 and was taken to hell for 23 minutes AS a christian, according to his testimony. It was NOT a near death experience, he compares his experience to Paul's of going to the 3rd heaven.
Here is another site I just googled -

It appears that God gave this man Bill Wiese a taste of what hell is really like in order for him to share it with us. And, for only $29.95 he is willing to share this experience with anyone (who will pay for it).
He is just another con man looking to make money off gullible folk who will fall for his scam!
To me it's just as bad as 90 minutes in Heaven. Is God's word insufficient to warn us of the damnation of the ungodly? Do we need a better testimony than Jesus who rose from the dead to verify the reality of the hereafter?
Just a clarification - he never said he died - rather he was in some kind of comma - but "absent from the body"
From his interview he does seem very knowledgeable about a broad area of theology - and not just only about hell.
Yes, I am still a skeptic, but this has been a very interesting discussion

By the way, further proof this is just a scam:
When Paul was caught up into the third heaven, he didn't know whether he was in or out of the body. This guy claims to know he was out of the body.
Part of Bill's sermon on the book is that when he was returning from hell, he went into space, re-entered the atmosphere and eventually could see his own body as his spirit went back into his body. I read it myself but that's what he says.
