My fellow debaters,

I have let the moderator know that I will be leaving this forum because of other committments.

However, before I leave, I want to talk about my handle, "Dr. Walter." Many of you have handles that do not reflect any reality about yourself while others do.

The handle "Dr. Walter" has no factual reality in regard to my own person with the exception of the name "walter" as that is my factual middle name. I do not hold any doctoral degrees from any institution.

I do hold a fully accredited Bacherlor of Arts degree from Lexington Baptist College in Lexington Kentucky (1974). I also hold a fully accredited Master of Theology Degree from Mid-America Baptist Theolocial Seminary in Memphis Tennesse (1982) with Landmark Baptist Theological Seminary in Fort Worth Texas (2010). I am now enrolled in the Doctor of Minister program at the last named institution and that is exactly why I am leaving this forum as that is requiring most of my free time.

I am sorry if this news lets the air out of the baloon of some who think the bested a "Dr." or if you think I misled you. I certainly at no time claimed to have a doctorate degree. That was simply my handle, like "Jedi" or "Gold Dragon" or "thinkingstuff" etc.

That is okay. My name here is SaggyWoman. My title is Saggy, and I am woman. Hear me roar. Saggy is an elitest moniker that is a strain of my last name.

Well, Doctor, we are going to miss you. I hope you won't go completely cold turkey on us. Please drop in on occasion and lob a bomb or two our way. We always need some meat to chew on.

Besides, seven days without the Baptist Board makes one weak.

Who knows, The Theology of the Baptist Board might be the making for a good thesis for the good Dr's dissertation.

While we are confessing...I'm not really a dog. I just slobber like one and eat food off the floor when it is dropped.

I will admit, I did think you were a Dr, though. Others here referred to you as such without a rebuke from you. The OP might have been a good thing to post in the welcome forum when you first joined (for those who may be reading this as guests and haven't joined yet). Using the Dr. moniker as a goal that is being pursued is perfectly fine. I might change mine to President Webdog :)

While we clearly have signifigant theological differences, I must acknowledge and give you credit for demonstrating a passion for the Scriptures. I trust and others have benefited from reading your posts. They certainly have helped me - even if we do not ultimately see eye to eye on some issues (yet, anyway), being challenged to engage your arguments has helped me in my quest to understand the Bible.

Doc, you have a gift for getting across complex concepts using everyday language, and never sound like one who is just trying to 'show off' his knowledge. Keep that sir.

Though we've crossed swords (so to speak), you've actually have given me things to think about. I did thing you already had a phd but to be honest I've been less impressed with some Phd than I've credited you. I must say at times I let my emotions get the best of me at times I appreciate a good discussion even heated ones. Best to you in your endevors.

I guess I'll have to come clean too. I don't really sag. It's just my initials. Sorry, if I misled anyone.

Best wishes with your D.Min. endeavor. I edit and format doctoral papers for students at SBTS and I've done over 100 papers. I know what you are in for.

Give me a shout out if you have problems making the computer behave in the common Turabian style. I've got that nailed down.

Courteous request,
However, I’m very sorry, but I very much doubt your interpretation of Broadus, Dr Walter! Again you do not give the statement by Broadus in full quote or in “the overall context”. I think it says more or less the opposite of what you are contending, Dr Walter. I shall not be surprised in the least if Broadus meant the first clause of his statement “the gates would be closed at sunset” as representing the meaning of “the term epiphosko”— in contradistinction to the concept contained in the second clause of his statement, “and opened at dawn”.

I may be wrong of course. I shall wait for your bringing us his full statement, please, to see….

Thanks
CGE

Godspeed
