In God We Trust & the $10 gold piece

I just wish it wasn't on the rest of our money. It's a holdover from a time when Christianity reigned as an unofficial religion in our cold national heart. When we release it as a museum piece, maybe hearts can actually be changed.

By keeping it on the coins, it should remind us Christians not to fall victim to "the LOVE of money"

God is not calling the President, The Congress, or any other power player...

He is calling His People...

We have no one to blame but ourselves...

Here James likens each of us as having the potential power with God of an Elijah...

Does it make us a "Christian nation?" Of course not.

But I don't go around wishing it wasn't on our coinage.

I don't think it's damaging to have it on there.

Do you think that "under God" should be included on the Pledge of Allegiance?

Should "so help me God" be included at the end of any oath of office, or an oath in a court of law?

I'm not asking these questions to attack. I'm just curious as to your views on this matter.

(Many of) The people who support the lie that this nations have the same God as the God of Israel are afraid of the God of Israel because they support the Nation of Israel to protect the US from the God of Israel. The nation of Israel is worshipped as the God of the USA.

I'll chirp in with MHO here on these two.

I would answer no to both of these. It was only added to the pledge in 1954. Those who don't believe in God should not have to pledge a lie. They can pledge their loyalty to America and not believe in God. Christians can add it if they wish.

I would not say the words taking an oath. I believe it violates the principle of 'not swearing' on anything but letting our 'yea be yea and our nay be nay.'

I also do not think it belongs on the coinage. America as a whole does not trust in God. How many of us as believers can even say that we really trust God to take care of us no matter how bad financial times get? How many of us are fretting, worrying, and losing sleep just because the economy is in ruins. How many of us are really trusting God despite having politicians we don't like or trust in power? If we are trusting God do we wring our hands because an election does not go our way. Looking at a coin is not going to remind me to do what I should be doing. That is what my Bible is for.

Religious freedom doesn't come in degrees. 1/2, 1/3, 99%

It requires a price. Which is that some persons will believe nothing, others false Gods, etc.

It is our job to enlighten them, not the state. Unless we prefer a European-style socialized religion, with its empty churches on Sunday morning.

The original writer of The Pledge of Allegiance did not include the words, "Under God". That was done by politicians during the Cold War. Purely political posturing.

America was once a Protestant nation. It was founded by those fleeing persecution. From that culture, Teddy Rosevelt was not very far. Today it is 2010, and Protestant America is just one of many, and many do not appreciate its values of freedom.

Free will. "A mind convinced against its will, is of the same opinion still."

I wouldn't interfere in the mind's process of free will, by political pressures and posturing.

That's what I think. Feel free to disagree. It's a free country!
