Many, many years ago I listened to Family Radio as it had some very good shows scheduled. One in particular was called "Unshackled", and was a radio drama from Pacific Garden Mission in Chicago, that covered stories of various people coming to salvation. It was very entertaining. In fact when or children were young we would all sit around the radio and listen to the show together. It was a great way to pass on the gospel to our children.
Also another show that Family Radio carried was "Famous Christians"; also a radio drama that often had more than one episode to finish a story. One particular drama that stands out is the story of young Michael Faraday, the father/inventor of the electric motor/generator.
Anyway, now there are not anymore sermons on Family Radio from various churches nor are there dramas anymore.
What I have heard on occasion with revulsion is this call-in show that is hosted by Family Radio Owner, Pastor Camping. Camping is so "apostate" with his yearly predictions of the end of the church age, and the beginning of the End Times travails of biblical proportions.
Camping has missed the mark so many times.
Anyway, I've often wondered what would happen with F.R. if Camping were to be gone from the scene. He is getting up in years, and I can't see him continuing his involvement.
Would the F.R. staff raise up someone who would reverse this "apostate" bent authored by Camping if Camping were permanently gone?
This is a major Christian radio network/station. I haven't listened to it for years. I know that millions of Christians have followed the same trend.
The only "plus" on F.R. is their music which is still very nice if you like the classic hymns sung by large choirs, and also the orchestral/symphonic presentations of Christian music.
*****
I'll finish with this. Red flags got raised up in my mind some years back before Camping starting predicting the endtimes dates.
It was concerning his stance towards people who were in a second marriage. Camping staunchly stood in the position that anyone who remarried was living in an adultrous condition as God didn't recognize divorce.
I actually called up Camping on his call-in show and told him that my wife had been previously marriedl, but had divorced as her 1st husband had committed adultry numerous times. She was a Christian, and I a single Christian man married her, a divorced Christian woman. Camping informed me that I was committing adultry as well as my wife. I asked him about the 3 beautiful children that we had from our marriage. He wouldn't delve into their state, but staunchly held the position that I and my wife were living in sin. I asked him if God would be pleased if I left my wife, would that make things right? He just blew me off and cut me off on the phone line.
As young Christians we were very upset and confused.
How can this station continue to prosper/flourish with Campings twisted doctrine?
