What are your dreams? Not your waking ones, the ones after you fall asleep.

Almost everyone in our family has been having weird dreams lately. We attribute this directly to the armed forces base being so close and the secret tests they must be performing. JUST KIDDING!

Last night I dreamed we lived by the ocean. This isn't unusual. I've always lived near the ocean or water and now am in a land-locked state and severely miss it. However, the bubble-like pastel animals that took up almost all the ground space were most unusual! A teenager from one of my classes was in the dream and he started taking care of the needy critters and everyone was amazed that he had a soft side to him.
I tried to take freshly baked chocolate chip cookies down to the beach for my kids who were there playing, but when I got out of the house I realized that I was carrying a bag of brown sugar instead of cookies. I walked out in time to overhear a sage old man (kinda like a buddhist type) praising me to my husband, telling him that he was SO impressed that I got through to that student and that it meant that I was one of "the rare people." There were only a few of us in the world.
So I walked back into the house so they wouldn't see me holding the zip-lock bag of sugar and that I wasn't even smart enough to tell the difference between chocolate chip cookies and brown sugar.

I had an odd dream a while back and it was the same beach, same house. My dreams tend to do that. When I was younger I dreamed every night for at least a year...the same type dream. In my dream I went through the day pretty much like in real life. I'd go to sleep and dream started that I was waking up, getting dressed, having breakfast, going to school, going through the day, and by the time I went to bed is when I would wake up.
Dumbest, most mundane, boring dream life ever during that part of my life!

And yes, I dream in color.

I had two dreams that must have stemmed from the fact that I was facing a lot of prep work for things coming up and maybe I was not feeling prepared.

My first dream was that we had a house full of people for Thanksgiving and the ladies (all ladies from church) were helping me in the kitchen. We were just about to call the men to the table - when I realized we had no turkey!! I didn't even have one in the house! YIKES!

The second was the next night and I was on the ladies' retreat getting all ready to run the computer for the projection (song words, all the audio, etc) and realized I had done NOTHING to prepare for it so none of the songs were ready. YIKES!!

But this week I successfully finished all of the ladies' retreat stuff (16 hours worth of work), all of the wedding stuff (about 6 hours worth of work) and the Sunday services (another 3 hours worth of work). I think I made enough this week to treat myself to a few new clothes!! I usually only work about 10 hours per week!

OK ..... just remember, you DID ask, Gina! :sleeping_2:

Last night, I had a very bizarre dream.

I dreamed that my church choir was performing the Easter Cantata at the local Civic Center on the huge community stage. I was playing the keyboard and some friends and music professors that I went to college with 30 years ago were playing the other instruments. As we were warming up, the keyboard wouldn't work. I started to cry because I knew that the choir director would blame me for breaking
it somehow when all I did was warm up on it. The man who was playing the drums tried to quickly teach me how to play some toy drums so that I could pretend that I had never played the keyboard before and feign innocence. All I could do was continue crying and just stand there in the middle of the stage with the curtain about to open. The choir director came over and said, "Get the keyboard ready!". I just laid down on the floor and wept with fear. I was wearing a black and white tutu like a ballerina and had also lost my toe shoes. He banished me from the stage before the curtain went up and the man who was trying to help me with the toy drums gave me his coat so that I would not be cold when I left the building. As I was leaving, barefoot and sporting the tutu, everyone was coming into the building all dressed up. I was the only one leaving the building and I was so angry at myself for not standing up to the choir director and telling him that I didn't break the keyboard that it was just a cheap "dud" that he bought.

I have dreams like this all of the time.

OH my word! I am snorting and chuckling and snortling and there's tears and if this doesn't stop a trip to the bathroom...

Oh yeah. I'm GLAD I asked Scarlett!

    Oh man. Here comes heartburn...

I have a daughter who plays violin in the orchestra and wears tutus (over pants though!) and she's gone tonight but I'm gonna be letting her read this tomorrow!

    Oh...my sides...my kidneys! HELP!

My dreams tend to have something to do with mountains. It's a recurring theme, and has been for several years.

    Here's my latest:

My Ladies Bible Study group was attending a Beth Moore conference, and we were very excited to be there. I was standing on top of a very high mountain, and Beth was speaking. We were looking out over this beautiful valley. We were so high up that we were looking DOWN on rainbows! It was really beautiful. Then Beth announced to us all that she was pregnant, and would be resigning from her ministry to care for her new baby. We all burst into tears, and started hugging Beth. Then we rode this cable car down to the valley and had lunch.

By the way, I dream in color, too. I thot everyone did...do some people actually dream in black and white? That's so strange to me! My dreams are usually very colorful.

Gwen, there's some kind of Beth Moore thing going on out here sometime in the next few months. I've heard the name but that's about it. Someone was telling me I should go.
I usually...uh not usually, I just never go to stuff like that unless it's as a volunteer to do some kind of work and get free tickets or something for others who actually want to go. LOL Not little miss social here...sounds like you're familiar with Beth Moore though. What do you like? Part of why I don't go is because I fear what I don't know and have these visions (not dreams or real visions) of going to a women's conference and having to knit or get up and share how summer breezes make me feel. What do these groups of women actually do?

One of the best things I have ever done is to attend a women's Bible class. I've done all different kinds of studies, but Beth Moore is one of my favorites. You have a workbook, and do a topical study each day that includes homework (answering questions about the different passages you are studying), and then once a week you all meet and watch a DVD (by Beth Moore) where she teaches about what you have studied all week. You get to share what you have learned each week if you want, but no one has to say anything if they don't want to. The way I have experienced it, there is nothing like the fellowship of women who are sisters in Christ! Our group has formed a very tight bond, and have become very close friends. I encourage you to try a Beth Moore Bible Study! If you don't care for it, you don't have to go back. And you don't have to go to one at your church. Beth Moore studies are usually open to the community (at least around here they are) so you can check it out and be rather anonymous to see if you like it or not. haha.

She also has conferences at various cities, where she comes and speaks to several thousand people in person. I've never been to one of those, tho...

I don't always dream, but when I do they seem to be doozies. I'm frequently in the middle of some murder kidnapping plot involving Russians. Sometimes I swear the story picks up where it left off the last time.

    I also dream in color.

My most interesting ones are a few "waking dreams" when I was not fully conscious, but the OP asked not about those, but the ones as we were in that dream stage of sleep. Many have been just things that have always fascinated me-- trains (including driving down a railroad track and meeting them head-on), tornados (I live and was raised in an area with some fantastic tornado stories), and falling from some great height (waking up, of course, before I put a hole in the ground). Most, like the most recent one a few days ago, are insignificant, and I can't rememeber them a short time later... come to think of it, I can remember one from early this morning, but it's not in proper taste for this forum.

Maybe these aren't, either, but I will tell them. 3 times I can remember-- though one was a 'waker'-- I saw Jesus. Only the waker has any 'good' about it. The first was when I was about 15, still recovering from my motorcycle wreck, the time laid up of which led to my real study of the Bible. The family was having the familiar roast for Sunday dinner (nobody in the house was going to church in that 'era'), and he was just 'there' in our garage, which had the walk-in door from the front we most often used, then he stepped inside the den. Somebody (I don't think it was I) offered him a chunk of roast, and he said "Ah-- yes!" Then there was more talk I don't recall, then he left through the garage, and as he was going-- I don't like saying this as I recall it-- my dad said after him, "those damn Jews." My dad had said a few disparaging things about Jews before, but the few times he mentioned any related thing 'theologically,' he did even seem to know that Jesus was a Jew-- "How do the Jews think they're the Lord's own people if they don't even believe in Jesus Christ?" I heard him say more than once.

The other time was in my latter years in high school. It was a fantastically dimunutive "judgment day." Jesus was sitting on our couch with a friend of mine from school (not a close friend, but a smart guy) was on his left with someone else I did not know, apparently not disturbed by their fate. The he called my name and, with a sour look on his face, pointed with his right thumb to his right, then looking at 'notes,' he said "You were a Baptist?" It seemed there was no feeling at all-- I was on his right, but the way he looked at me as he motioned me there was like what I suppose it was 'meant' to convey; like that of a judge, knowing I was guilty, but some "quirk in the law" (as Joe Friday once said) was there for me to hide behind. But then, he called my youngest brother's name and, with the same look, motioned him to his left. As I remember, there was no one else even there. I wasn't elated that I was on his right side, but I was really grieved that my youngest brother was on his left.

Is that unusual? I too experience dreams in color.

Tell me it's a sign of superior intelligence! :praying:

    I found this Arbo - I didn't have a clue ;)

Here's the source. Doesn't look extremely authoritarian, but it does at least answer the question.

This one does sound more authoritarian, but kind of wordy. *ahem*

The rumor when I was a kid was that most people dream in black and white. Guess it was false!
And here I thought I was just special. :tear:

I'm enjoying this thread. It's interesting to hear what you all are dreaming about out there. :sleeping_2:

OK, here's last night's dream and I think it's more interpretable than my other one.

Yes, I do dream in color and dream WILD things that make no sense. I'm not making any of this up, even though it sounds like I am.

Last night, I dreamed I was a bridesmaid in someone's wedding along with three of my friends. Whose wedding it was, I don't know, but it was far too lavish, costly, and "froo-froo". The bride had rented a castle somewhere and we had decided to forgo a rehearsal and were just going to "wing-it" with the walking down the aisle thing.

Myself and the three other bridesmaids didn't wear tradition bridesmaid dresses but wore Disney costumes. I got there late and had a choice of Snow White (complete with live singing birds to carry on my fingers - they were so cute) or the hunter (female version) from Little Red Riding Hood. I decided on the latter because I thought the Snow White thing was really lame.

I wore a plaid to-the-floor skirt with leather boots - a long sleeve white shirt with a brown vest - and a traditional European hunting cap with a feather sticking out. Instead of singing birds, I carried a fox - a real fox. A cute and cuddly red fox. When the people in the congretation of the huge castle saw all the animals (one bridesmaid was leading a Bengal tiger on a leash), they began to cheer because NO ONE had EVER had live animals in their wedding before.

I tried to tell people that they were scaring the animals, but no one listened. The birds flew away and the fox disappeared.

When the animals were gone all of a sudden the four of us bridesmaids were not in Disney costumes anymore, but in tradition dresses. Black and white frilly stupid stuff with oceans of ruffles and lace. And we were being escorted by groomsmen.

I looked over at the groomsman escorting me and thought, "He's cute." He looked at me as if to say, "Hey, good-lookin' - whatcha got cookin?" I was immediately grossed out and stopped the processional and said, "I'm sorry, I can't walk any further, I might fall down in these shoes."

I left the castle and the wedding and it was very hard as it was so big and had many winding hallways. As I left I was dressed in the way cool hunter's dress and had gotten rid of that stupid frilly rufflely thing.

My favourite dreams have been where I am flying.....( not like a bird or even superman). These can be zooming around the suburb, the world or the universe. They are beautiful!:applause:

I've had similar dreams to Blackbird where I'm sitting a midterm or final exam thinking "how did I get here and what am I going to do about a failing grade?" LOL, its been 18 years since college!

Worse though, are the dreams that I am back in high school because someone figured out that I didn't have enough credits to graduate the first time and if I want to keep my diploma I have to go back and take Algebra over. (I took calculus in college for goodness sake, why would need algebra again????) Usually I figure out I'm dreaming just about the time I'm asking for the exact reason "they" think they can keep me in high school. LOL

I also do the flying dreams and the ones where I swim underwater, breathing all the time. (nope, no drowning in my dreams. I got away from "Jason" from Friday the 13th once because I could breathe under water and he kept having to come up for air! LOL, hilarious, because I never remember watching an entire "jason" movie! No clue why I'd dream about it)

Here lately though, my dreams always have something to do with moving to a new, BIGGER house. It's always an older house with lots of hallways, rooms, and interconnecting rooms. (prob cause I like older houses with lots of rooms) We're always moving IN. I never dream about packing up the old house! Sometimes I'll dream about a particular house for several nights. Then, I'll move on to a new one!

Night before last, the house was sided in white and evidently my husband had picked it out without me. Why? Cause it had NEIGHBORS! (As much as I like my neighbors I will never buy another house with them as close as I have now!) It had a fairly nice backyard though, all fenced for my dogs and a garden spot (complete with grapevines), beyond the fencing.

The house had two sinks in the kitchen, which was great until I figured out that one sink wasn't connected properly to the drain! There's a prob, cause my husband hates little repair jobs like that I can no longer do them myself. The fact I have not one but TWO teen boys that could have been instructed in drain repair, did not come into my dream. Only one of my four kids was even in the dream and she was occupied setting up her own room. I felt some frustration over that!

The roof of this house also leaked, though someone assured me that the leak was fixed even though the ceiling of one room was falling in! But that was okay as long as there was no leak, cause this house was BIG and I had other rooms to use until that one got fixed. Thankfully, the alarm went off long about then.

This is typical of my house dreams! The house is always big and there is always something wrong with the kitchen (one time I dreamed the house had 4 kitchens, all in a row, downstairs and another upstairs. If that ain't wrong I don't know what is!)

I can't figure out if these are dreams or nightmares!

I can't remember ever having a "dream" in my sleep. Maybe I didn't sleep enough hours at once.

    Cheers,

    Jim
