Doesn't prophet John/Apostle paul Support idea of Divine Election?

Seems that his :mission: in life was Predestined by the Lord, and he was elected by GOD to do that before even his birth..

Apostle Paul as Saul persecuted Church, despised Jesus as Messiah..

God gave himn a "bolt out of the Blue" and he converted on the spot..

Don't these 2 examples tend to support concept of God DOES choose/elect some to eternal life?

No, they support the concept that God elects some to the offices of prophet and apostle.

No, they support the concept that God elects some to the offices of prophet and apostle.

i believe this is the common error of Calvinists, they presume what is true of the divinely appointed messenger must also be true of their audience. BUt proof that God picked and convinced Jonah to go to Ninevah ddoesn't prove He does the same with individuals in Ninevah...

in fact, such presumptions undermine apostolic authority by suggesting that every believer is hand picked and effectually called in the same manner as they. Paul says to the Galatian believers, 'God set me aside from birth and chose me.' To which they can reply, 'So what? So were we, why should we heed your teaching as any more authoritative than our own?"

Yes, the Apostle Paul did teach individuals are elected (chosen) for salvation through the sanctification by the Spirit and faith in the truth. 2 Thessalonians 2:13.

Yes the Apostle John did teach individuals are elected (chosen) in 2 John 1-2, 13. That the election of the "chosen lady" might be figurative - a reference to a church - does not detract from "her children" also being chosen - which would refer to folks who heard and learned from that "chosen lady". The "truth which abides in "us" and will be with us forever must refer to the indwelling of the Spirt which occurs when God spiritually places a person "in Christ" for we are sealed in Christ with the Holy Spirit forever.

Yes they do....That is why Paul wrote about it so much.Christians take great comfort in these truths.
