Update: Pentacostal Minister Attending My Baptist Church!

have had the opportunity to dialog more with the Pentacostal minister who has been attending our Church past few Months..

Seems that he started to visit us while coming to my Pastor for Counsling for his eldest Son..

He feels as thought he LORD has lead him to attend the Church, and that he is to be used to bring into our Assembly more of the "fulness" of the Gospel, to allow us to "move" more in the power of the Holy Ghost than at present...

Involved in healing and deliverance ministries, and said that he has seen a terminal ill cancer patient healed under his care, and a blind man was able to see for a few hours again..

He was in a nasty car/truck accident, hurt badly, still has a partially paralized right arm from that...

I have discussed this with an Elder, who has talked with the man, and his counel to me was to just "wait" at this time, as God might have wanted us to minister to this man and his family mainly, NOT to have him come in and try to do radicle changes to the Church doctrines...

Just wanted to keep all of you updated on the situation...

Side note...
JUST found out this week one of our members has a brain tumor that is not curable by surgery, she was "openned up" and Doctor said too advanced, and released her home...

Please remember her in your prayers, as we know God is able to heal and restore her IF He so chooses, but also know "absent from the body is present with the Lord" Better for her Husband if she was healed and stayed, only in 40"s, but may the Will of God be done here!

Most of us think this is nonsense and have rejected it;
He feels as thought he LORD has lead him to attend the Church, and that he is to be used to bring into our Assembly more of the "fulness" of the Gospel, to allow us to "move" more in the power of the Holy Ghost than at present...

This is the language of charismatic error. You post in here, but keep in mind.most charismatics baptize also.....yet , they are not baptists.

Confessional baptists reject continued revelation...and with it the pentecostal buzz words.....
moving in the power
the annointing breaks the yoke,
the full gospel,
speaking the rhema word,etc

we know about this but reject it as the error of false teachers that are like a plague in our day.

I do recognise that this gentleman IS using the "pet phrases" of the modern day Pentacolists, and just find it ironic that He believes that the Lord sent him to us to help us discover the gifts of "healings/delierance/miracles", yet his own body is still to a degree ailing from his accident, and his oldest Son has health problems.

Just trying to sort this out, perhaps we are to be the ones to minister to him and his family for a time, and maybe we are ones God will use to "reveal" to him the errors of the ministry he has become involved in/with.

We are NOT a Church who totally is cessionist, but have NEVER ptacticed anything charesmatic during 7 years been a member here, so think my biggest concern is that IF he is to stay on, needs to drop totally the Word of Faith, name it claim it, God will is perfect health and wealth, and JUST become one who is a "bapticostalist"...

Regarding pentecostal style healing, you said...

I'm sure that would be interesting news to those who have experienced healing through that manner. :)

(personally, I am not pentecostal, bty)

we believe that God is the healer, and that He can choose to exercise His will at any time and directly heal, BUT that he can use medicine, surgery, and death to accomplish the healing...

basically, pray to god to receive the healing, and allow Him to work out the method!

God is the healer, NO faith healers!

Does that mean you reject the belief that God is still speaking to His people today, both with the written word and separate* from it?

*assuming, of course, that anything God may say to us "subjectively" is in complements His previous revelation.

God does not give any new revelation today. God speaks to His people through His word that is already given and sealed. We have been given all that pertains to life and godliness.
We have a complete word.
Chapter 1: Of the Holy Scriptures
1._____ The Holy Scripture is the only sufficient, certain, and infallible rule of all saving knowledge, faith, and obedience, although the light of nature, and the works of creation and providence do so far manifest the goodness, wisdom, and power of God, as to leave men inexcusable; yet are they not sufficient to give that knowledge of God and his will which is necessary unto salvation. Therefore it pleased the Lord at sundry times and in divers manners to reveal himself, and to declare that his will unto his church; and afterward for the better preserving and propagating of the truth, and for the more sure establishment and comfort of the church against the corruption of the flesh, and the malice of Satan, and of the world, to commit the same wholly unto writing; which maketh the Holy Scriptures to be most necessary, those former ways of God's revealing his will unto his people being now ceased.( 2 Timothy 3:15-17; Isaiah 8:20; Luke 16:29, 31; Ephesians 2:20; Romans 1:19-21; Romans 2:14,15; Psalms 19:1-3; Hebrews 1:1; Proverbs 22:19-21; Romans 15:4; 2 Peter 1:19,20 )

BB- what did God forget to tell us that he needs to repeat Himself on? Which one of us is so special that God needs to tell us something unique? We win In Christ, He is returning, We are not to add,or take away from His word.

All of these false "ministers" assault the rule of scripture and in fact attack it. Catholics have the virgin mary popping up here there and everywhere, joseph smith sees the angel moroni, muslims listen to the demonicly influenced mohammed...

why would we think benny hinn, copeland, hagin, tilton, parsley, price, dollar, shambach, swaggert,et al are any different at all

Totally agree with you that in the Bible we have ALL needed to know about God and his ways, and we have the Holy Spirit to enable us to live for Him...

Think question is if you are "open" to idea/concept that God, at times, can choose to led/direct/guide us by being "promted/lead" by Holy Spirit to do or say something.

For example, could be praying extended periods of time for Lord to work out something, and fell "led" by God to contact a specific person, who just so "happened" was able to meet the need you were praying for...

I agree. The "name it and claim it/prosperity gosple" ones are a bunch of false teachers.

This group will try to hijack the church and make it one of their own, then when the current pastor leaves put their own in. The pastor needs to take a stand and not allow this kind of false teaching into the church and combat it openly.

Agree with that, as those in the word of faith/positive confession movements do see themselves as being receiving "additional" revelation through their gurus, "prophets and Apostles"

Scary in dealing with them, as they give the Bible "lip service" and promote their teachers doctrines as equal to Bible...they would of course say they are just giving what the "Lord" gave them to give, but interesting how often their "revelations" and doctrines contridict the Bible!

So your suggesting that there is a plan afoot?

God has planned and predestined the believers life.
What you are describing is more the providence of God,where what he has predestined is worked out in time.
The Spirit works in us through the word jn17:17.

Good works are ordained by God that we should walk in them. There is no mistake ,accident, or coincidence. It is all God's plan. Trust that He is working in you as you obey His commandments. Beware of the mystical.
