seems that whenever we start discussion in area of Sotierology, that it quickly becomes a heated debate, without much evidence of Christian behavior among the bethren!

can't we at least agree to quite ridiculing, talking down to, stop making it seem that God is a "true blue' calvinist or Arminian?

Just have everyone agree with me and we will all be unified! :)

What we need to do is defend our position biblically and not resort to name calling or side arguments.

AMEN!

What we have goeing too much now is that we all have out=r views on positions from Bible, that is OK, but then we either refuse to listen to opposite sides, ignore, or "pooh pooh" it as being ignorant, not informed etc

example of that is while discussing John calvin...

Some see him almost as a modern Apostle for Jesus, others as Apostle of satan!

Could you please clarify that for me....I mean the last part I just bolded out?

Can we add to that misrepresenting others, claiming people believe that which they do not, fail to digest the point of the opposing view, accusing those who disagree with not knowing, understanding, lying or blatantly dismissing "truth", and the "if you disagree with me you disagree with God / Bible" mentality?

Nope.

Calvinism is the Gospel. Anything else is not. Noncalvinism ridicules and talks down to Christ, the Cross and the work of Redemption. Ain't gonna pretend that's okay.

Well it must be summer...the heat is growing...there is a plea for unity...and someone has already restated their ridiculously myopic retort.

I generally stay away from most of the conversations concerning Reformed vs. non-Reformed views around here. There is simply too much emotion, misinformation, and polarization involved. I also have a running list of people I ignore.

Always remember that you catch far more flies with honey than vinegar...and just because you believe your position is the biblical one isn't a warrant for being a jerk.

Jesus did tell us the outside world will know us by our love...not our hate, correctness, orthodoxy, hyperbole, etc. :)

Why would you want to do that :)

Got to love my Ellipsis :)

some would hold that God 'revealed" to Calvin the doctrines of calvinism, so the reason why it is superior would be based NOT upon the truths it holds too from the Bible, but that it is 'scriptually" as much as what paul and John recorded!

I'm also not going to pretend it's ok to equate man's systmatic theology WITH the Gospel.

From a Systematic prospective, we believe its extracted from scripture.....been that way for a loooooong time.
That's fine and what we should all strive for...but that is not what Aaron said. He said calvinism IS the Gospel. The Gospel is immutable...calvinism is anything but.
