Does Your baptist Church practice the "laying On of hands?"

As part of either ordination process to commission pastor, or else to commission missionaries etc?

We do it as per Timothy having hands laid upon him and some type of "gift" being granted unto Him by the process!

The only way I've seen "laying on of hands" in a Baptist church is while praying for someone.

We do that on the pastoral prayer team, but was asking more in regards as they did in Bible, when commissioning Pastors/missionaries to go forth?

And paul sd Timothy received some kind of 'spiritual gift" imparted him via laying on of hands!

We do at ordinations and when someone requests annointing with oil.

We do it at ordinations, as well. The anointing with oil is rare. We've had only one request in recent memory.

I don't recall ever seeing it at any kind of commissioning service.

Three of our members went to Eastern Kentucky on a mission trip recently. We had a commissioning service for them, but there was no laying on of hands or anointing with oil.

The only time we practice “laying on of hands" is when the kids get out of line.

We practice laying on hands for special prayers, ordinations (minister and deacon), commissioning, and other special occasions. It is important and a great practice.

This may sound snippy but that is not the itent. Does laying on of hands help or is it just something we do that makes us feel good?
