Luke 21:24 - The Times of the Gentiles

Luke 21:24b Jerusalem shall be trodden down of the Gentiles, until the times of the Gentiles be fulfilled.

A lot of people feel that this was fulfilled in 1967 when Jerusalem was occupied by Israeli forces - under Israeli control.
One fact is being left out - the most important piece of land in Jerusalem, the Temple Mount, has never been under Israeli control.

IMO, when the Temple Mount comes under Israel's control, then the "Times of the Gentiles" will have ended
and Israel, once again, becomes YHWH's "people" as in O.T. times and end-times prophetic events quickly unfold.

Today we see the continuing fulfillment of Christ's remarkable prophecy that Jerusalem would be "trodden down of the Gentiles, until the times of the Gentiles be fulfilled" (Luke 21:24). UN Resolution 181 in 1947, supported by the Vatican, declared that Jerusalem must remain an international city. Israel's Knesset is there. But nations locate their embassies elsewhere in Israel. No other country is forbidden to decide its own capital! The European Union repeatedly says it "does not recognize Israel's sovereignty" over Jerusalem. By what right do Gentile nations claim Jerusalem as their international city?

When will "the times of the Gentiles" end? Clearly, not until the Gentile nations are defeated at Armageddon. Just ahead lies "the time of Jacob's trouble" (Jeremiah 30:7). The armies of the world, led by Anti-christ, will be brought to Armageddon by Jahweh to punish them for mistreatment of His people Israel (Ezekiel 38:16-18)—and to discipline Israel for her unbelief

Well if it is lifted out of context then one could point to just about any time in history. However if the surrounding verses are allowed to be used with that one part it is clear that this is yet to come.

Is this a different "times of the Gentiles" than that which is found in Revelation 11:2?

Good point. The Temple will stand again before the Great Tribulation since the False Christ will commit the "abomination which makes desolate" in the Holy of Holies
(Matt. 24:15). This means that Israel has already reinstituted Temple Worship under Mosaic Law, which means that the "times of the Gentiles" will have already ceased.
The desecration "which makes desolate" could even refer to the disappearance of the Shekinah Glory from the Holy of Holies. Such an act could be understood by the fact that the False Christ, endwelled/empowered by Satan, would demand to be worshiped as God by the entire world of Gentiles and finally by Israel.
2 Thess 2:4 Who opposeth and exalteth himself above all that is called God, or that is worshipped; so that he as God sitteth in the temple of God, shewing himself that he is God.

So are there two different " times of the Gentiles"?

The term "times of the Gentiles" is not used in Rev. 11:2.
It is referring to the area external of the Temple on the Temple Mount.

From WikiPedia:
The Court of the Gentiles

This area was primarily a bazaar, with vendors selling souvenirs, sacrificial animals, food, as well as currency changers, exchanging Roman for Tyrian money because the Jews were not allowed to coin their own money and they viewed Roman currency as an abomination to the Lord,[25] as also mentioned in the New Testament account of Jesus and the Money Changers. Guides that provided tours of the premises were also available. Jewish males had the unique opportunity to be shown inside the temple itself.

Beameup,

The Gentiles still control the Temple Mount (and the outer court of the Temple)
during the "three and a half times or 1260 days or 42 final months"...and also
during the 3 and 1/2 days of the 43rd month) "until Gentlle times are fulfilled"!

The Abomination in the Temple will be destroyed on the single Day of Wrath when Christ comes with all the Saints to redeem Israel and enter the Temple as part of His triumphant march into Jerusalem after standing on the Mt. of Olives!!

The "three and a half KAIROS times" are part of the 1290 CHRONOS-times which includes a 43rd month that will be "cut short" by 26 or 27 days when the 7th Trumpet sounds that "God's Wrath has come"!!!

And with that Last Trumpet comes the "appointed KAIROS-time to judge and reward the Prophets and Saints, both small and great!

AND to destroy" all those who will have just killed a third of mankind in the 6th Trumpet, crossed the River Euphrates in the 6th Plague and are gathered together for the slaughter at Armageddon. Rev.11:18. At this point Believers will be "watching for Christ to come like a thief!! Rev.16:14-16.

Here the 7th Plague must empty before the 7th Trumpet sounds. Rev.15:8. For "No one enters the Temple in heaven" until the 7th Plague empties and the 7th Trumpet angel sounds with "the temple already OPEN"!!! Rev.11:19.

[Rev.15:1-8; Rev.11:19 see the Temple OPEN after the 7th Plague empties in the air].
