OK. If you're going to get technical, is there a sin gene passed from the father, or is sin something spiritual?

If sin is "passed" by the males, which gene is it?

Where did Adam and Eve get their ability to sin?

SAME place satan got His to sin against God!

Both satan/Adam were created with "real free will" by God, and both decided to sin and go against God!

After that, ALL humans would be born no longer with same real free will as Adam, but bound with a sinful nature!

'Bondgae of the Human Will" great ride from martin Luther!

    Both!
We inherit the sin nature from our parents, and that causes us to be born spiritually sinners, who are spiritually dead!

I'm with you as to the spiritually corrupted. It looks as though we all are still living in these sinful bodies.

From the male only, or also from the female?

Believe this is traced through the male lineage, all the way back to Adam Himself!

That's why you think the virgin birth was necessary for a sinless Christ, but that's a superstitious view. Sin is not a thing of matter. There is no sin molecule. Our bodies are not evil. The thing that animates them is, and that is not a physical thing. So it matters not whose flesh God chose to use to make a body for His Son. His Son cannot be corrupted.

God is not limited. He could have come in a space ship. But he came as the "second Adam" for a reason.

I believe that is the correct answer.

We must consider that the Scriptures did not dictate to God.

    God dictated the Scriptures.

So God could have incarnated Jesus anyway He chose - and the Scriptures would then foretell that way.

But doesn't scripture show the woman is considered the Body of Adam? Adam sinned, so her sin remained. The Word became flesh, out of sinful woman from the womb of her mother, the sinful woman Eve. Eve had no power over her body, so what she received from Adam was sinful.

Virginity must be upheld at all cost, for Mary could not have been the fleshly body that the Word of God became flesh, had she be contaminated by some human being. Did Shiloh come? Does not Jerusalem speak to this matter? The earthly Jerusalem is of man to be sure, but was it not populated by man with only Virgins?

And I will put enmity between thee and the woman, and between thy seed and her seed; it shall bruise thy head, and thou shalt bruise his heel. (Genesis 3:15)
--He was born of the seed of the woman, thus indicating a virgin birth, and thus escaping the sin nature of the man (Adam) from whom the curse came. It is through man that the "seed" comes, not the woman.

But when the fulness of the time was come, God sent forth his Son, made of a woman, made under the law, (Galatians 4:4)
"made of a woman," again indicating the virgin birth.
"made"--"cause to be generated," also indicating, as the gospel accounts tell us that she was conceived by the Holy Spirit. He escaped the sin nature of man.

The answer to the OP is: Yes, he had to be born of a virgin.
God said he would (Isa.7:14), and he had to come fully man and fully God at the same time, and yet without sin.

Women must be sinless as long as they are virgins.

This sounds like you're saying virgins aren't corrupt. That can't be what you're saying.

I'm saying the virgin birth was a sign, and a sign only. It happened. To deny it is a heresy. But it isn't what kept Christ pure. Sin is not something that comes through muscle and blood and skin and bones. It's the spirit of man that is corrupt.

And when you think of corruption, don't think of something that is added. Think of something that is lost. Remember how easy it was to corrupt the data on a floppy by inadvertently laying it on top of your stereo speaker? It didn't take anything from the speaker. The magnetic field simply realigned some of the dipoles. Data was lost, and if that was your only copy, the data could not be recovered. Copy that disk as much as you want, you will never get a copy with uncorrupted files. The program will never work, not because of what the corrupted floppy yields, but because of what it can't yield.

It isn't so much what Adam gives us that makes us sinners; it's what he doesn't give us, and that is life. And life comes no more through the woman than it does through the man.

The Scriptures do not say that Christ was born of a virgin to escape the curse. It says He was born of a virgin for a sign. Anything else is superstition and old wives tales.

IF God had Jesus born a "regular' birth, Joseph as His biological father...

Would he have had a sinners nature as to His humanity?

Would he still be qualified to be the messiah?

Seems that the Virgin Birth HAD to happen in order to fulfill the scriptures of Him born of a Virgin, AND being the sinless lamb of God!

I agree with Aaron, sin is a moral and spiritual condition, not something you inherit from your parents like eye color.

He is also correct that a virgin is no less sinless than any other person. There are millions of virgin girls in the world, are they without sin?

No, this hokey theory comes from the Middle Ages (Dark) when men were filled with superstition. Why do we say, "God bless you!" when someone sneezes? Because medieval men believed the soul was expelled when you sneezed and evil spirits could enter you. It is amazing that modern men believe these ancient and very unscriptural superstitions.

And it is ridiculous to ask if Jesus could have been born of Joseph. How then could he be born of a virgin?

He was born of a virgin as a supernatural sign from God identifying he was the Son of God. This is all the scriptures say, we should not add to God's word.
