    With Andrew Luck's luck taking a hit this past weekend, it seems that the Heisman may not be such a slam dunk after all. If you were voting, who would you vote for and why?

    I had no idea that Luck and Richardson were running neck and neck in the H Race!!!!!!!!!

    I voted here for Richardson----but just like Luck---he had a setback when the Tide was washed out by LSU

    Personally---I am an LSU fan and would like to see The Honey Badger take home the trophey this year for the Tigers-----maybe Honey Badger will win the Butkis award!!:praying:

    Keenum at Houston has the best stats, though his competition has not been at the same caliber as some of the others. I think that will knock him out of the running. Same for Moore at Boise State, plus his stats aren't up there. Jones at OU is having a very good year, but has the lowest QB rating and TDs plus has the highest # of interceptions.

    That leaves Luck, Weeden and Griffin3. That leaves Luck still in the driver's seat since Stanford has the easiest remaining schedule - with Cal and Notre Dame left to go -- both games at home.

    An ESPN poll among associated voters (unofficial, of course) says Griffin has a big lead. It would be surprising if he does win because the Heisman is a super-political thing in college football. That means you have to play the media, have exposure, get influential people talking about you. Maybe he has been involved in more of that than I know about.

    But I'm one of those who takes the award as I described it above. The most outstanding player in college football certainly could be a lineman, which we know has no chance for this trophy. Politics! It could be one who doesn't even play FBS (IA) football. Politics! And personality can be as important as play on the field. Politics! Playing for a school near the east or west coast (or associated therewith) is an advantage. Politics! Even names and nicknames play into it. I wonder why that LSU CB/KR got that nickname Honey Badger. Perhaps that's one reason Griffin has always used, even on his jersey, the III designation. What is the plainest name that has ever won it or been a finalist? I don't recall John Smith, Mark Brown, or Jim Jones. Maybe Mike Williams was a finalist?

    2 things I will say in favor of the Heisman. It does seem to go to a player without regard for his pro potential, as so many have not been rated that highly for the NFL, and more than that have done little or nothing as a pro. And I have already forgoteen the second thing I was going to say in favor.

    One more negative is that it seems to distract the winner after the ceremony, in that his team usually doesn't perform well in the its bowl game. And only once was the winner of the award from a losing team. More politics.

    A lot of what you said is true. That's what makes this year so refreshing. It looks like it will come down to two guys from Stanford and Baylor. Not Bama, USC, Florida, Ohio State or Auburn. Great article listed above about Griffin. Take a look at it when you get a chance.

    The votes are in and RG3 of Baylor won the Heisman (deservedly so) by 280 points over Andrew Luck of Stanford. Richardson of Bama was 3rd, Ball from Wisconsin was 4th and LSU cornerback Mathieu was 5th.

    From ESPN.com, "he put up dizzying numbers, completing 72 percent of his passes for 3,998 yards with 36 touchdown passes and a nation-leading 192.3 efficiency rating."

    It's good to see a good people succeed.

    Wonder why Baylor - the largest Baptist university in the country - does not get more attention on the Baptist Board??
