Got layed off today

After 2.5 years of service me and about 10 others got layed off today in round II of layoffs. I heard from a source that one of the supervisors in another location was coming to do all the world-ship, exports, US Postal, and run the shipping software systems, so I knew I would be out of a job. Some older ppl that got axed had been with the company for 12 years and were being replaced by young beautiful and inexperienced people. Thats the problem with non UNION jobs. Well God has better plans for me.

I was feeling sorry for you about your lose of a job...until this line.

Give me a break...

I don't really agree with it either, but you need to learn when to shut up. This poor fella just lost his job right before Christmas. What misfiring signal in your addled brain tells you it's a good time to blast him for his stance on unions.

Merry Christmas

Yes, we will keep you in prayer - especially the last sentence - as that is according to scripture:

And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to [his] purpose.- Romans 8:28

... Well God has better plans for me.

I have been unemployed for a year now. I was a 17 year good employee, and then was let go...along with a few other long timers.

They replaced us with 31 hour employees.

Why 31 hour employees? Why, its because you then dont have to give them benefits.

The only reason I am not homeless, walking the streets eating out of trash cans, is becaues of my savings, which wont last much longer, and the temp service I signed up with., that gets me SOME work, but its intermitant, very low pay, and has no benifits

If any of you all dont have anyone to pray for, pray for me.

Merry Christmas, jerk.

Appreciate your support. Yeah well at least I was not fired and I am far humbler than the last time I lost a job back in Jan of 2007. I will get a sum of money tomorrow + my checks and will file for unemployment. I also need to drastically cut costs. This may mean I will reduce my cable to the basic plan at only $50 a month.

I had a premonition from the Holy Spirit perhaps that it would come to me today. It was a strong feeling and it ended up being true.

I hope to find a job soon. This means I will be at it 40+ hours a week. I have 6 career books in my person and one of them The Christians Career Journey has loads and loads of sample resumes, websites, and all kinds of resources on the job hunt. I suggest you buy it used.

Savings??? I dont have much, but will get 3 checks tomorrow and will add to savings.

After that I would have no choice but to rely on my 2 Credit Cards. Lord willing it will not come to that. God does not want this, and I wont let it happen.

Unions are not perfect but at least they can protect employees for corporate greed.

I feel for you... Been there several times in my life. Always makes a mess out of things. This time around, I had hopes that I might escape this particular recession intact with a job, but alas I am also one of the ones displaced.

I had 6 weeks to find a transfer to another location within my company if I wanted to stay on with them. I also had a district manager that was NOT going to help me with that process (and actually worked to block me out of several potential avenues).

On the last day before I was totally out of work a position came through, in a different state, at lower pay, and with a lower work grade. I took all the cuts, moved (alone for the first 5 months until my wife could join me), and we are now homeless with all our stuff in storage.

No union could have (or would have) saved me. What I see here in Wisconsin (a hot bed of union activity) is that when the union gets involved the entire plant gets shut down instead of a few people getting laid off. Not sure how that is better, but at least the union gets a brand new union hall out of the deal. They also heavily support liberals who run for public office -- exclusively -- with union member's dues. Never mind that all the people working and paying may not support that policy. Just shut up and do what you are told...

Anyway, in my situation it turns out that God was in it all the way... HE moved me to where I am now. He also provided enough income so that I could afford to take a church as a bi-vocational pastor. He has also shown us the home that we will rent -- and that several months ahead of our potential schedule. God is good, and I'll move where He sends me any day.
