He that overcometh, the same shall be clothed in white raiment; and I will not blot out his name out of the book of life, but I will confess his name before my Father, and before his angels.

It is a promise that if someone gets saved he will never blot their name out of the book of life. Some call it once saved always save, or eternal security.

If you trust in Jesus Christ alone and His finished work and you know what he has done for you can you walk away from Him? That verse is telling me not to trust in me and what I have done but in Jesus the one who is victorious the only one who has overcome

is it dependent at all upon us perservering unto the end of our lives though, in order not to "shipwreak" our faith?

You are talking a works salvation. God saves the lost and keeps them saved. No believer is keeping himself saved. All believers will persevere because His seed abides in him.

So God keeps His own after being saved.PERIOD, regardless of how they would behave?

He not only keeps them but He keeps them from practicing sin. 1 John 3:9

Whosoever is born of God doth not commit (practice) sin; for his seed remaineth in him: and he cannot (practice) sin, because he is born of God.

So it would be dependent upon their behaviour in your view?
