Yeah, after de-programming them from the man-made systematic thoughts of Determinism Romans would be a good place to start indeed; I'd begin with 10:9 and show them what the Bible actually says about election:

(Rom 10:9) If you declare with your mouth that Jesus is Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.

Note: You is used 4 times in this verse. You'll be surprised by how much "you" there is in a book that supposedly says that we do nothing.

    :tongue3:

Jesus was baptized at the beginning of his ministry. Go thou and do likewise.

just make sure that you are NOT a "practicing liberal", as that could call your salvation into question! At least according to the Gospel of fal!

He could have asked the Lord for a thunderstorm? - and I am serious - if you are that serious that a person must be baptized.

Really?? Sometimes it seems you make such "broad brush" statements that are unsupportable. Look at the conversion experience of Saul for an example.

    When was Saul saved?

    When was Saul baptized?

Did Ananias give instructions to Saul about more than just salvation during the visit and what else took place at that time?

Did Saul receive the Holy Spirit before or after baptism?

Ananias said that Saul was to be baptized to "washed all his sins away." As a "commandment," Saul would certainly need to have his "sins washed away" by baptism.

You said, "Baptism is to be done right after salvation as is every example in Scriptures." Another statement that you must prove, for the Scriptures as in this example would not support your view.

Perhaps you can explain the time line a bit - without some of your previous posts on baptism, salvation, and the Holy Spirit being recanted.

I wouldn't call it denying them something they qualify for. I would call it proper order.

Web, when I suggest a delay, I'm not talking abut weeks or months. I'm talking about days, as a general rule, between public confession of faith and baptism. To me, that is not unreasonable.

    This is just too easy!!

    Delay to "prove????"

Try what John the Baptist told folks who came to be baptized.

Go away and bring back proof of your repentance, then I may consider it. (matt 3:8)

Well, that is what it says in this old man's translation. :)

For the sake of argument let's say Paul was saved on the road to Damascus. There was no one there who could Baptize him, DUH, :BangHead: but he was ordered into Damascus by the Lord where his eyesight was healed and he was Baptized. Reading the account there is no reason to believe it all was not done right away as soon as he was in the company of another Christian to baptize him. Read Acts 22

Also John's Baptism it was a Baptism of repentance not in the name of the Lord washing away sin, big difference.

So......you would skip over Paul's doctrinal root teaching on election, predestination, foreknowledge,Union with Christ, ......then give them your view of election...apart from the other chapters...taking romans 10:9 out of the whole context of the book....:(.....what a surprise;)...we understand.....
