Sounds like a week long revival... also sounds like the week before the pastor's and church's collective exhaustion. :tongue3: I'm tired just reading it.

But we have come a long way from the willingness of people to stay at church all day on Sunday.

..... Or preach services on Monday! But that was their community & their family amongst the Non Conformist churches of the day.

This was the time of the great Welsh revivals (c. 1904-1905).

Any idea how much contact/knowledge they had of what was happening back in Wales?

'forming a procession, marched to the front of the church'

A wicked Catholic ritual grounded on no warrant of scripture but rather repugnant to the word of God! Let them all be declared anathema!!

No, trying to track this side is difficult given their very common last names (Davis, Jones, Lewis, Hughes etc) & what was their 1st names.....John, Jack, Roy, Arthur etc. Like I said, hard to track.

now important to note.....these churches in PA still teach the Welsh Language.

These folks were anything but Catholic & anyone of them would know more scripture that you would ever have dreamed possible. Again these folks were Non conformists. My Great, Great Grandfather was both an iterent preacher & a full time coal miner. He would walk from church to church in the poor coal mining country to bring the gospel in both English & Welsh. If you called him or any of them Catholic, they would have quite a laugh at you obvious foolishness.

"Keys" means what?

The congregation was presented the keys to their new building by their contractor.

The OP is describing a special program of services celebrating the opening of their new edifice.

EWF, you know nothing about me. You have no idea how much scripture I know. I do notice you have a tendency to make attacks on anyone who disagrees with you though. You have sent me PM's warning me about certain people on this board who are 'anti-Catholics' and 'lo and behold', after reading a number of your past posts, you be one too!! You have called me a liar recently and now . . . Well, 'bless your heart!'

Thats right & I dont want to know. All I do know about you is distasteful.

And yes I warned you about people who in the past have mouthed off about their Catholicism & have been banned so you could control yourself & not be banned.....but apparently you have no ability to control your mouth via your lack of self control displayed here. So eventually & quite naturally it will happen....give it time.

At least show some class as Thinking Stuff has done & learn from his example.

'About their Catholicism?' Now you are saying I'm Catholic?

Oh, and please, no more PM's about how 'distastful and nasty' certain people that you mentioned are. If I am banned, it will not be for making personal attacks on people.

So why dont you declare what you are then?!?

Lastly, your commentaries have nothing to do with the OP....rather they are there to pick a fight ....not in accord with Board Rules.....so keep it up!

It wasn't made to pick a fight or offend anyone. It is ONLY an example of how ridiculous WE Baptists can be in attacking anything that has a hint of Catholicism about it. No intention of de-railing your OP.

BTW, if you would bother to look at my public profile you will know what denomination I declare.

Stop your pious phony baloney/cry baby act......Ive read your past posts & spoken to you privately. All anyone here need do is go into your most recent commentary about Catholicism. Your fooling no one

also you came in this OP on the attack....... Thats clear by your most recent commentary. All the evidence is right there so just go away & try hard to pull that bug out of your ....

For the record. I am a Baptist attending Grace Bible Church which was the
first Presbyterian church in California and the first Protestant church on the Central Coast. In 1980 it changed names to Grace Bible Church and remained an independent church until joining the Evangelical Free Church in 1988.

. . . but, yes, I'm taking a close look at the Catholic Church. My posts state that from the start.

You attacks have not gone unnoticed. Why are you trying to derail this thread? This has nothing to do with you, nor Catholicism. It appears to have a link or relation to the Welsh Revivals, which are as far from Catholicism as one can get. I would advise you not to be so contentious in the future, and address the OP, instead of attacking the person. You have been given a warning.

Better you should start another thread if you want to discuss your looking at RCC.

Yes I really need to read some historical books on it but that takes both time & money that I cant invest in right now. My GG Grandfather would probably laugh at that woosey answer ....he put in 12 hr days in the mine 6 days a week & found time to do his church bit all Sunday..... God bless them!!!
