A Queens woman made history at a Harlem church Sunday night. That is when Rev. Keith Roberson, pastor of the Southern Baptist Church, and more than a dozen ministers from around the city ordained Cambria Heights resident Eva Duzant.

Just because they ordained her doesn't mean scripturally it is approved of God. Men approve a lot of things that aren't scriptural, doesn't mean God approves.

It seems using a concordance to get the meaning of Greek words to proof the text is to him an article. That and posting scripture from various versions that don't change the scripture.

The problem I have with basing one's beliefs/doctrine on the opinions of authors, teachers, and commentators (though those true to what the Bible says have their place) is that what they teach and write about is filtered through their own personal opinions and convictions. What they put forth is subjective to varying degrees because they are human.

Better to get it from the Bible.

But then, I am only a layman...

Just to be clear, the Baptist church in Harlem which ordained a woman is not a Southern Baptist church, best I can tell. The church is named Southern Baptist church, and is not affiliated with the SBC according to the link Jerome provided..

Well let's see Paul is telling people who in Ephesus worshiped Godesses and had Priestesses not to have Priestesses but that men were to be the Spiritual authority. So Paul was in this case teaching against what was practiced. Think maybe He meant God's order was man created first to Have Spiritual authority in worship? Sounds a bit like it.

If you don't know what the authors meant based on the time, place, and context in which they wrote, then you can read something and not know the true meaning of it. Headship, for example, did not mean what the good ol' boys club says it means. That's been shown time and again, but some refuse to accept or believe that due to their presuppositions.

Since there is a blatant refusal to believe the truth, I have to wonder what the good ol' boys club is afraid of.

Additionally, for all those determined to keep women out of the pulpit and in their place -- To be consistent with scripture, you must do the following:
All females over the age of 14 must be kept "barefoot, pregnant and in the kitchen" (be fruitful and multiply, you know); must have two darkies fannin' ol' "Massuh" on da poach; and when Sunday-go-to-meetin'-day comes, be sure that your women have head coverings to cover up that LONG, uncut hair.

My, my, gives me a feeling of nostalgia just thinking about it.

Now do all these things so you can show people you're consistently following scripture. Otherwise, someone might think you're a hypocrite if you only practice one of them -- keeping women out of the pulpit and with mouths closed in church.

Oh, and another thing: Make sure that when every boy hits puberty that he is not in a Sunday School class taught by a woman. And if he is in such a class before he hits puberty, he must be taken out immediately upon arrival at puberty. Paul's "clear" teaching must not be violated.

I can see you are falling back to your line of defense that relies on sarcasm and insult. I can only assume you will later cringe with embarassment when you reread this idiotic post.

Why not just explain how the Scriptural requirement of "the husband of one wife" does not mean just that?

They certainly are parallels. If you shift your view of Scriptures based on the culture of today then you should do consistently. By only applying the shifting culture to your view of women in Scripture, and not homosexuality, you are being inconsistent.
