Psalm 2:11-12:
v.11 - Serve the Lord with fear and rejoice with trembling.
v.12 - Kiss the Son, lest he be angry and you be destroyed in your way,
for his wrath can flare up in a moment. Blessed are all who take refuge in him.
How do you survive if you are caught outside in a blizzard? Survival experts will tell you if you are caught in the snow and can't get inside, the best thing to do is to Dig into the snow itself. It seems counter-intuitive, but the same snow that will freeze you in the open will protect you from the cold if you dig underneath it and hide until you can get help.
It is much the same with the fear of the Lord. A true fear of God will not lead us to run away from him, but rather to run to him; since the only place where we will find refuge from the Wrath of God is in God himself.
Fear of God frees us from all of the other fears that worry the world, and that fear of God is what allows us to take refuge and Sanctuary in him:
Is. 8:12-14a:
12 “You are not to say, ‘It is a conspiracy!’ In regard to all that this people call a conspiracy, And you are not to fear what they fear or be in dread of it.
13 “It is the LORD of hosts whom you should regard as holy. And He shall be your fear, And He shall be your dread.
14 “Then He shall become a sanctuary;
