There was NO Gospel preached 'while the ark was preparing.' Noah was not preaching to people who were dead at that time....but to people who would be destroyed in the flood. Peter states that those living people to whom Noah preached (past tense) are NOW (present tense) dead spirits who are NOW (present tense)in prison.

There are NO second chances to hear the Gospel after death.

Your problem now seems to be that Jesus only preached to those who were alive in the times of Noah is that what you are saying.
You want us all to believe Jesus only preached to some spirits and not all who have not known the gospel. Why is that? God is God over everyone. Why are you leaving people out?

Your problem is you do not believe the Word of God. The Word of God says He preached to those who were disobedient while the ark was preparing.

1 Peter 3: 19-20 NASB -- 19 in which also He went and made proclamation to the spirits now in prison, 20 who once were disobedient, when the patience of God kept waiting in the days of Noah, during the construction of the ark, in which a few, that is, eight persons, were brought safely through the water.

Notice that this does NOT say that Jesus preached while the ark was preparing, or during the construction of the ark, as the NAASB puts it. The ONLY way to make it say that is to twist, contort, and reconstruct the passage.

Fred is denying the Word of God.

The clear meaning is that the spirits were disobedient during the construction of the ark; it does not say that Jesus preached to these spirits during the construction of the ark. To make it say that, you have to twist and contort the construction of the sentence. I know what I am talking about concerning the correct construct of this sentence; I have been teaching such for 20 years.
