Greetings, brethren!
I'm a "questioning Presbyterian" with Baptist roots. I have been a member of two Presbyterian (PCA) churches, and I am seeing first hand how my denomination is slowly following the same path as some other Presbyterian and Reformed denominations, growing ever more tolerant of calls back to Rome from within our own camp; more "open minded" to positions once considered heretical, and those of us who cling to the Confessions and historic faith of the Reformation are being called "divisive."
I have lost confidence not only in Presbyterian polity, but also in traditionally Presbyterian understanding of Covenant theology that allows for the baptism of infants, yet keeps these "covenant children" from the Lord's Table. Taken to it's natural conclusion I think, traditionally Presbyterian understanding of the covenants should either allow paedocommunion or forbid paedobaptism rather than take this "half-way" position.
I remain convinced of the accuracy and clarity of what we have come to call "Calvinism," but the way Calvinism is "moderated" in the PCA of late is not a little disconcerting to me. I just don't see many Reformed Baptist churches wrestling at top levels with such heresies as Federal Vision (salvation by sacrament - either a Lutheran-leaning breath away from baptismal regeneration or in other cases a veiled call to return to Rome), but I suppose every denomination fights these battles.
So call me a "Questioning Baptisbyterian" I guess. Joining the forum to ask questions and hear from the larger Baptist community about issues that have me questioning the future of my PCA denomination and church, as well as my own place in or out of the denomination.
