The Blood covenant....so much more...

By studing the blood covenant and what actually takes place during it has helped me understand a little more about our eternal security as a believer ...plus so much more.

Blood is shed throughout the Bible as a picture of what Christ did on the cross for us. The New Covenant was made through the blood of Jesus Christ (Luke 22:20). This Covenant is an everlasting covenant (Heb. 13:20-21). A better covenant with better promises (Heb.8:6).

A blood covenant represents the most serious and binding agreement that two people can enter into. To break a blood covenant guaranteed a certain death. It is a union of two parties into one new person. It is an exchanged llife.

Marriage is a good example of a blood covenant. Where the two become one (Gen.2:24). Blood flows on the wedding night..this is the the cutting of the covenant!

Properly understanding the blood covenant will help us understand exactly what Jesus accomplished at the cross. The cross has been reduced to forgiveness of sins and the hope of heaven some day. That would be enough! But there is so much more!

To break the blood covenant down into the simplest form- it has four distinct parts. Spilling of sacrificial blood...cut of the covenant...the exchanged life..covenant meal.

Jesus crucifixion is a blood covenant ceremony on a global scale, which began at the Last Supper and ended on resurrection morning.

God joined Himself as a sacrifice for sin-in the place of man. He used His own blood and body to seal the transaction. Where God and man became one! This is a faith covenant..we must put our faith in Christ's blood to receive the exchanged life on a spiritual level! The soul (mind, will and emotions) and the body remain intitially unchanged for the most part.

This is where it gets good...
The two parties in this blood covenant is Jesus! This is why Satan could not figure out what was going on. Jesus represented both covenant heads. Jesus is called both the son of man and the Son of God in Scriptures. Jesus is the God/man. He was fully God and fully man.

THe moment Jesus was crucified, the blood of the covenant was spilled.

So what was exchanged?
#1 Jesus took on our sins...we get His righteousness (2 Corinthians 5:21).
This righteousness does not come from our performance...it comes through our faith in what Jesus did..not what we do.

So what else was exchanged?

"Knowing this, that our old man is crucified with him, hat the body of sin might be destroyed, that henceforth we should not serve sin. For he that is dead is freed from sin." (Rom. 6:6-7)

"I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me: and the life which I now live in teh flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave Himself for me." (Galations 2:20)

Whereby are given unto us exceeding great and precious promises: that by these ye might be partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world through lust." (2 Peter 1:4)

Because of the exchange at the cross, we experience the reverse process. We do not stop being human; but we do partake of God's divine nature.

Jesus received our name (son of man)...we get His name that carries all authority.

"Verily, verily I say unto you, He that believeth on me, the works that I do shall he do also; and greater works than these shall he do; because I go unto my Father. And whatever ye shall ask in My name, that will I do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son. If ye shall ask andy thing in MY name, I will do it." (John 14:12-14)

Then Peter said, Silver and gold have I none; but such as I have give I thee: In the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth rise up and walk. And he took him by the right hand, and lifted him up: and immediately his feet and ankle bones received strength. And he leaping up stood, and walked, and entered with them into the temple, walking, and leaping, and praising God..." (Acts 3:6-8)

Jesus gives believers the authority to use His name. This type of authority is very closely related to what our legal system today would call "power of attorney." Power to conduct business on His behalf.....Using the resources of heaven.

We see this name change in God and Abraham...a husband and wife.

#3 Jesus gets our sickness and disease...we get His healing.

"Who his own self bare our sins in his own body on the tree, that we, being dead to sins, should live unto righteousness; by whose stripes ye were healed." (1 Peter 2:24)

That it might be fulfilled which was spoken by Esaias the prophet, saying, Himself took our infirmities, and bare our sicknesses." (Matthew 8:17)

#4Jesus gets our poverty...we get his prosperity

"For ye know the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, that , though he was rich, yet for your sakes he became poor, that ye through his poverty might be rich." (2 Corinthians 8:9)

Beloved, I wish above all things that thou mayest prosper and be in health, even as thy soul prospereth." (3 John 1:2)

The word prosperity had been distorted in America..from one extreme to the other. One extreme says that you are not spiritually blessed or mature unless you have a big bank account. The other extreme thinks that poverty is a mark of maturity. The poorer you are the more humble you are...Riches are looked on as sinful and worldly.

Having the resources to abundantly meet my needs with enough left over to give to others ...to me is closer to true prosperity

#5Jesus gets the law's curse..we get the blessings of Abraham.

"Christ hath redeemed us from the curse of the law, being made a curse for us: for it is written, Cursed is everyone that hangeth on a tree: That the blessing of Abraham might come on the Gentiles through Jesus Christ; that we might receive the promise of the Spirit through faith." (Galatians 3:14-15)

In Deuteronomy 28:1-2 we find two parts one being the blessings and other the curses. Under the law of Moses you had to keep the laws or you would receive the curse. This produces a "performance based christian." Christianity today is based on faith in Christ and resting in His FINISHED work.

The blood covenant was given by Jesus so we could have faith in what God said. The deciding factor in the blessings and curses is based on our faith! The opposite of faith is unbelief.

God doesn't lead one to the truth apart from proper study and exegesis of His Word. Every time you criticize a person who is rightly dividing the word of truth in opposition to the odd ideas that come through your spiritualization, allegorization, and supposed Spirit-led interpretation of Scripture, then you are in definite need of help. How can you be sure it is God that is leading you?

Does God's Spirit bear witness with your spirit that you are a child of God?
That is a serious question to begin thinking about.

No, I am not called to be an apostle! Like I said to DHK..I have learned a lot from God through men. But you are asking me to believe YOUR teaching over what scriptures is teaching me! Just suppose for argument's sake that you were an avowed atheist.
Suppose I come to you and give you irrefutable evidence that Christ rose from the dead, which in and of itself proves that Christ is God, and therefore God exists. Would you accept my proof.
The answer to that scenario is "no." No matter what evidence I present to you, your mind is made up like the atheist, that you will not believe. You will remain steadfast in your unbelief. You will spiritualize Scripture, take it out of context, pit scripture against scripture, and do whatever is necessary not to believe the correct interpretation, so that you can hang on to something that is so very unbiblical.

There were 12 apostles. The apostolic office is no longer in operation today. It was not passed down. There are no apostles today. Hence no need of the sign gifts or the gifts of the Holy Spirit today, as stated in Heb.2:3,4 and 2Cor.12:12. They were the signs of an apostle, signs to authenticate the apostle and the apostles' message before the canon of Scripture was complete. But now we have a completed canon. Hence the signs have been removed.

1Cor.13:8 mentions three of the gifts. It also mentions that they will cease. When? When the Scripture will be completed. One of those gifts is knowledge. It is not common knowledge, but revelatory knowledge. All three gifts are vehicles of revelation and ceased when the canon of revelation was completed by the end of the first century. They are not necessary any longer.

1Cor. 14:21 states that tongues are for a sign to the nation of Israel. The sign would be for judgment unless they repented. The did not repent and went into judgment. Thus the sign has been removed. It is no longer needed.

1Cor. 14:22 states that tongues are for unbelievers. The context here refers to unbelieving Jews. Even if it were unbelievers in general that is now how you use tongues and how the Charismatics use tongues. In fact the context of the passage says that if the unbeliever sees you speaking in tongues he will think that you all are mad, or crazy. And that is true.

Paul condemns the gift of tongues to be used as a private prayer language as all the gifts are to be used only in the local church. They are gifts for the church, to edify the church. How can the gift of healing, administration, helps, etc. be used privately at home? They can't. They are all for the church to be used for the church.

The gift of healing was such a gift that the one using it healed all who came to him, and no one was excluded. Look at the example given in Acts 5:16 by Peter. Peter did not turn away a single individual. Thousands were healed: saved and unsaved, whether they had faith or no faith. There are no such faith healers today. They don't exist. The gift doesn't exist, and neither does the Biblical gift of speaking miraculously in another language. You have failed to demonstrate that it does.

Yes, I have the complete truth. Yes, I have given evidence that you are wrong in your position. But will you accept my evidence. No, you won't. You would rather follow a movement that started in 1905, and was unheard of before that time, except in paganism and extreme cults. Why would that be?

Why Because he purchased us, and therefore we belong to him.

The topic of this thread is the blood covenant...maybe you can let go of the other rehashed topics and join in this one! Jesus experienced rejection from God's presence...we get His fellowship with God

"...that which we have seen and heard we declare to you, that you also may have fellowship with us; and truly our fellowship is with the Father and with His Son Jesus Christ. And these things we write to you that your joy may be full." (1 John 1:3-4)

"God is faithful, by whom you were called into the fellowship of His Son, Jesus Christ our Lord." (1 Corinthians 1:9)
Ever wondered what the "fellowship of the Son God" is?

God has always had perfect fellowship within..The Father, The Son, The Holy Spirit...

But when Jesus took on our sins on the cross...The Father turned his back on His Son. No wonder the sun was darkened and the earth shook???

This broken fellowship was not permanent!

You have never been to a third world country where most of the nation lives in abject poverty have you? Try going to Ethiopia or Zimbabwe, parts of India, or Pakistan, or North Korea, and preach that message. See how it goes over.

Well, if you have given your evidence...be satisfied! I am! I have presented my stand on that topic..SEVERAL TIMES! The topic of this thread is the blood covenant...maybe you can let go of the other rehashed topics and join in this one! You confuse the promises God made to tsreal under the old Covenant to the ones he promises us today under the new!

God gave isreal the physical healings/wealth/etc as long as they obeyed Him, but under the new one we have received ALL spiritual blessings in Christ!

Blessings of justification before God, eternal life, access to god, indwelt by His Spirit etc NOT a promise to wealth/health as provided under the Old Covenant!
