Ideas for New Discipleship/Bible Study

Our small group is trying to decide on our next study.

Our group is about 2 years old. We have done "Radical" (Platt), and we have studied "James", "Acts," and will wrap up a lengthy study in "Matthew" in a few weeks. (We have used the John MacArthur Study Books as a guide, but we have gone much more indepth).

Some in the group want to continue with another book from the Bible....while some would like to do another book such as "Radical". No matter what the study, the group will be fine with it. I'm the leader, and I get to pick.

I'm open to some suggestions here.

P.S. We are currently exploring 1 Corinthians in our Sunday Morning Worship Services.

Have you considered an Old Testament Book? How about the book of Job? Or Song of Solomon. I guarantee you that you won't coast through them.

How did you find the Baptist Board? Why did you decide to join us? Tell us about family, and church life. You know, all the juicy details.

Van, would you flesh this out a bit? In what way would those books help train leaders?

I can see Romans, but what about Deuteronomy?

I do not think the idea that Deuteronomy is a good foundational book for the study of leadership is new or strange. Here is a quote:

"We often hear today about the vacuum of leadership in our country, and sadly, in the church as well! Those of us who function as Christian leaders in the church, in business, in government, and in the home, desperately need a biblical vision for leadership. We need to order our God-given responsibilities according to Biblical principles. Deuteronomy is a rich vein from which we may mine gems of leadership." Lloyd J. Ogilvie.

And to put a little meat on those bones, the imperative of vision, of outreach is presented in Chapter one, verse 8. Compare with Hebrews 11:27 and being motivated by our vision of our eternal God.
