Anyone ever color code a bible with markers?

I have started a Systematic Theology study (this thread isn't about reformed or dispensational) and am using different colored highlighters for 8 different topics and the scriptures that I think help support them. I don't highlight every reference given, just the ones I think fit contextually. I started with bibliology and will go from there. I put a color code on the white, thick, blank page in the front of my bible. I am sure to run into trouble when the same scriptures support different topics, so I am trying to think of a way to get around this. I suppose I could highlight the 2nd color on the side of the verse.

Has anyone ever tried anything like this? I thought it would be a good way to study the bible this year instead of reading it through in a year.

Sort of.
I used colored pencils in conjunction with the inductive method. I use different colors and shapes to mark key words. I keep track of my code on a 3 x 5 card so that I am consistent in how mark words.

This can easily be used to help make lists.

Sounds like a good plan. You mentioning lists made me realize that I need to make a list of all the scriptures highlighted for the particular topics. Thanks for your input.

I hear you. That was my old method. I still do it in some bibles, but in this one I wanted to make it topic specific for an in depth look at systematic theology.

Pretty good ideas. I have heard preachers say they went back and looked at some of their sermons in their early years and they had changed their minds on quite a few things.

I agree, where's the fun in that? Besides, I have never met a study bible or commentary yet that I totally agree with. Imagine that.
