I have never read any of Rick Warren's books. An Estonian friend, a Baptist pastor, posted the following quote on his Facebook page. I agree with the quote.

    Pfft.

If you truly agreed with that quote, you wouldn't accuse people of hating the poor for disagreeing with you on how to help them.

Most interesting reply. You seem not to understand the meaning of the quote as your reply violates that meaning.

So, let's give the quote again and then read my post below the quote:

I have not passed judgement on your lifestyle.
I have not said I do not like you.
I have not called you "the enemy". [Remember you called me "the enemy".
I have not said that to be acceptable you must agree with me.

I have not said that if we attended the same church, worked together, were neighbors, etc. that we could not be friends. I have a very good friend who would agree with you on just about every subject you have ever written about. I would trust him to do anything he promised and I would do the same for him. We just do not agree on much of anything ... but he is my friend and I pray for him every day as he has had an extremely hard year through the death of his wife and mother-in-law, who lived with him.

The same was true with a man I worked with. We were good friends, but agreed on nothing. I really liked him. He was very honest in his opinion, even though to my mind he was in error. I lost track of him when he quit his job and set out to sail around the world by himself. I wold love to see and talk with him again, knowing we would not agree.

So, from my point of view you and I could be friends if we lived in the same area and knew each other.

Can you say the same about me?

I think I understand the quote fine, in context, and don't care to discuss it further. Maybe some folks will come to your defense, but mine rests.

So answer a simple question. Can you consider me a friend while not agreeing with me?
