The question is flawed from the beginning.Does it really matter? Would a person accept Jesus Christ due to hearing about an eternal hell sooner than hearing about a term in hell ending with a bodily ressurrection and a second death of annihilation?
The question is flawed from the beginning.
I trusted Christ because he would forgive all my sins and grant me eternal life. He loved me enough to do that. Forgiveness didn't come from going back to a Catholic priest every week, but from Christ who once and for all, forever, forgave me from all my sins--past, present and future.
The RCC is a religion of fear and of works.
Christianity is a that of love and of faith.
I was answering the question using my testimony as an example. What does the question have to do with Catholicism? The question is simple do you believe that there is eternal damnation where the damned are suffering for eternity or do you believe there is a time limit on the suffering in hell and hell itself will cease to exist with all the people and demons in hell will stop existing? The question is reasonable. And not once was Catholicism even mentioned in the question. I know you HATE the Catholic Church and look at every opportunity to insult it and provide your opinionated bias against it. Everyone gets it. You HATE the Catholic Church and see Jesuits under every rock. But I mean really! Even when a question is devoid of specifying anything Catholic you take the opportunity to attack. Or is it me? The fact that I answered and you can't stand that we might agree on something? So you take it out on the question? We all know God's motivator is love. But that isn't what the question was asking.
Hell may have little to do with the motivation of why a person trusts the Lord as his savior. Thus the OP is flawed.
I'm kinda like Chan on this issue, I lean towards eternal torture, but knowing what I know of God, His Love, Mercy and Justice, I struggle a bit to see a purpose in eternal punishment.
I could possibly understand this for those who have rejected God and have heard the truth about these matters, willingly choosing hell, but find it difficult to understand for the millions who never heard of a gospel to reject, never having any choice in the matter. Born a sinner condemned and given no choice in the matter of salvation from that condemnation.

2 things regarding hell...
heaven is eternal, so is hell
its the place of permanent seperation from god, ALl those that go to hell have chosen that destination, as hell is locked from the inside, IF they were to go to heaven to be around God, that would be hell to them!
I thought you were of the persuasion that people have no choice concerning heaven or hell?
people are accountible to god for their decisions, and those saved will be enabled by god to be able to receive jesus and get saved, and those lost will staty in the ir natural condition, the state they want to remain in!
Which is it? Choice or No choice???
